Why did the word BIG get attached to so many conferences, 12, 8, East, 10, Sky, South, West…
Don’t forget the Agy mafia
BigAss Conference.
How about “Only conference where you have a prayer of decent mexican food”?
Doesn’t apply if we get UW.
Fox sports conference.
It’s obvious:
The Whoop-Ass Conference
Every telecast will start with:

Marketing possibilities are endless.
Ohh looky Gifs from Chris!
The Big 12 is a prominent brand. I would rather just stick with that regardless of the number of teams. If we call it something else, like the “National Conference” or something similar, I think it becomes easier to brand it as a G5, similar to when the American went away from the Big East brand, which I believe is ESPN’s goal. The Big Ten currently has 14 members and will grow, yet they seem fine with it called the Big Ten.
I understand the BIG’s point. Likewise with the Big 12, its already a well known brand. I think changing it to Big16 is good enough…
I stick with BXII, let the country figure out the membersip numbers.
If you add the 6 pac schools you keep the B12 name as it will be 12 different states .zona’s, Stanford,Utah ,Washington, Oregon or you can trade Stanford for Colorado
This is a good point.
Simple solution. Keep the name “Big 12”. Whoever finishes 13th or lower in any given sport will be referred to as ‘little’ until they finish in the top 12 again.
Examples:
Little KU football
Little UCF Basketball
From 1963 to 1970 The SWC won 4 National Titles.
From 1971 to 1995 The SWC won zero, while The Big 8 racked up plenty of them, courtesy of Nebraska and OU and Colorado.
Today’s Big 12 is superior to the former SWC. We are fortunate to be members.
