Space X does it again

I mean it’s just Elon being Elon. That’s who he is, he’s never going to get a gold star for being a good person, he isn’t.

That’s where he differs from you and I

We agree, which then opens up the philosophical debate of why we, especially Americans, equate wealthy with morally/ethically good.

Hey I didn’t say you. You are correct in your thinking on this subject

Dustin clearly asked for that discussion to stop. Please don’t start posting on it again. (For awareness, I cleaned up the posts)

I hope he’s right. My biggest concern is basing everything on one man…Elon

Yep, that’s always been my concern with his whole empire.
Is it possible to have a plan of succession ? I don’t know
who could step in and command the attention he gets.

I guess the closest modern comparisons to that question would be Steve Jobs at Apple, and maybe either Michael Eisner or Bob Iger at Disney.

Jobs maybe but Disney was Walt Disney not anyone else.

Elon is closer to Edison

I was looking more at the modern era, which is why I mentioned Eisner and Iger at Disney because they were both highly significant in what the modern Disney is today.

What did Eisner do? Crappy movies and ruined the amusement park

Bezos is the only other one since he created a retail system that transformed the economy.

Musk is less like Edison, and more like Jobs. Very smart at what he does, but best at buying other’s work and elevating it.

I’m a Mac loyalist, but both Jobs and Gates borrowed from others in their creations. Edison stole from Nicola Tesla, so there’s that.

Musk bought in early on Tesla, but he did not “found” it. Was added as a co-founder based on his investment later.

They Cybertruck is all his tho…

Most insider stock is restricted for 6 months from IPO.

According to a report I heard, the IPO produced 4400 new millionaires and over 400 hundred millionaires. That’s through the company. Plenty more who bought shares before it went public.

Me? Baron Partners Fund has jumped about $50 since IPO and no restriction on selling

Agree about Elon.

Zuckerberg is similar too. Social media wasn’t his idea but he dang sure made it huge.

Neat chart on market cap and profitability.

Tesla had similar issues for a while, and may still have them but I’m not sure, where the stock price and value was way out of line from profits.

Think it took Tesla 18 years to have its first profitable full year. And every since
I’ve kinda followed it has had a very high Price to Earnings ratio.

That sounds about right, I just haven’t actually looked at the numbers in a long time.
