Spirit on Stage- Band and Spirit Concert

Hello Everyone-

Some of you know me but if not my name is Cameron Kubos and I am the Director of Athletic Bands and Spirit Groups at UH.

On Saturday August 26 at 7:30pm, we are bringing back the “Spirit on Stage” concert featuring the Spirit of Houston Band, Cheer, Dance, and Mascots on stage in the Moores Opera House. David Bertman started this concert in the early 2000s and it was incredibly successful for many years. It faded away for a while but we are bringing it back for the first time since 2016/17. This is a really special chance to hear the marching band indoors and see all of the groups up close as they perform traditional and new pieces for the upcoming season.

Tickets are actually going faster than we expected but they are still available. We would love to pack the Opera House as much as possible for these students. All tickets are general admission and $10, going to offset the costs of the concert and support SOH. In addition, the SOH Alumni Association will have a silent auction prior to the concert benefitting their scholarships that go directly to our students. There are also a few boxes left (they are VIP seating at $600) if anyone is interested in those.

What a great event you are putting on! As a former band member and drum major, I wish I could be there. But I now live in Reno, NV and the commute would just be a little too much. I will contact the band alumni web page and put in a contribution there. Have a great evening. Please say hello to David Bertman for me. We were involved with DCI together.

Sounds like a great show ! We Coogs are so proud of you guys . You have always represented our University so well! Tell your folks how much they are loved and appreciated! I live elsewhere, but I hope to catch a clip of some the action.

I plan to be there with a few other alums from the Moffit years. Looking for ward to this performance and will enjoy The Spirit of Houston as it makes it debut in the Big 12.
