Sports Bar

So I went with my family to watch the game last night at Bombshells off 288 and Beltway. There were over 75 televisions…Every sport was on you can imagine EXCEPT THE UH GAME! They had COLLEGE BASEBALL ON! We had to ask the manager COUNTLESS TIMES to get the game on…after 10 minutes into the game he finally got all the TVs watching the Coogs. Pathetic! WE ARE IN HOUSTON!

Wow! Must be a Horn bar… They thought they tourney was over forever after getting beat by Abilene Christian.

Some bars just have no clue what is really going on in the sports world. Sad but true

Very true

Mcintyres did a great job showing the Coogs on Friday. Also heard Karbach knocked it out of the park with El Gran Malo putting a viewing party together.

Find out any establishments that are owned by Coog alumni.

Karbach was a place that had a good crowd this weekend and had plenty of space

Will do Karbach from now on. My fiancee says we should have gone to McIntyres

Only go to Coog bars.

8th Wonder is also owned by Coogs. And for any Coogs living out here on the NW side, I know the owner of Senate Avenue Brewing in Jersey Village. The beer and food are awesome and I will personally make sure the UH game is always on. https://www.senateave.com/

A good reason not to go to that establishment. Thanks for the heads up.

Friday night we went to the watch party at George R Brown. There was a great crowd there. Sunday we went to Karbach Brewing. Both venues had great crowds. Given the two, I’d prefer Karbach. The main reason being I didn’t have to pay $25 to park and instead of the money going to a parking garage, I’d rather spend that $25 at Karbach plus some. However, at GR Brown, you could bring in a cooler. At Karbach, you have a restaurant and food truck. Also Karbach is closer to our house.

So at GRB you could bring in a rolling cooler? Was there food available for purchase at the GRB location? We went to Karbach last night but might consider GRB for this coming Saturday. Some in my group just aren’t beer drinkers. Thanks for the update…

Yes…at GRB we had a cooler (sodas and sandwiches) and some camp chairs loaded on our cart, dog in tow. Basically it was our setup for Miller Theater events. Cooler wasn’t checked as we entered so I suppose I could have brought in beer if I wanted to but I suspect it wasn’t ‘legal’. They had a portable bar there selling beer and wine and I saw some folks that bought chips but other than that I can’t speak to the available food options. I won a t-shirt (they gave me two) but I think everyone who was there won a shirt. My only complaint was that the pre-game DJ had the music cranked way up. We didn’t care but my dog wasn’t a fan. We moved farther towards the back and it was better.

Parked on the street a couple of blocks away (near Toyota Center). Parking is free after 6 pm so the meter only hit me for a buck or so since we parked at about 5:15.

Would have done it again on Sunday but we opted for a family mini-watch party here at the house. If I’m not AT a game I usually prefer to make a fool of myself in my own home. Mission accomplished!

Karbach wasn’t too picky about you bringing in stuff…I still bought beer and food from the truck. 2.5-3 hours is a lot of time to kill food wise when you’re stressed

I went to the GRB watch party on Sunday and brought in a yeti full of beer. No one said anything.
They also had the portable bar available too. As for food options, they had several trucks parked nearby. You also have a few restaurants and Phoenicia nearby if food trucks aren’t your thing.

Not mentioned is they had a pop up team shop with everything 40% off. It was some of the better gear too like the hoodies and shirts the players are wearing this year plus this year’s jerseys. I was shocked more people didn’t take advantage of the deals.

Thanks for all the updates on GRB. Were they checking your “tickets” for entry? I’ve got more than 4 in my group? Go Coogs!

No they weren’t checking tickets. I specifically had an issue pulling them up to show the check-in person and she flat out said “the fact that you’re here is good enough”. I can’t imagine they’re gonna turn a person or two away, especially if they’re dressed in UH gear.

They checked mine on Friday. My wife and I admittedly look kind of shady. And then there’s my dog! :sunglasses::roll_eyes:

Bottled Blonde on Washington had the game on almost every TV inside, some TVs had other ones on but for the most part they did a good job

At GRB they didn’t ask me for my tickets, but I showed them anyway. They also didn’t have a scanner to even scan them. I think it is more for crowd control and to deter a thousand folks from showing up.
