Going to try this again…
Construction elevator is coming down. Not sure what that means exactly but seems like a home stretch type of thing.

Here’s some news for anyone that follows drum corps.
That’s huge news. Brings a lot of affluent families to the UH campus.
That third picture still bothers me. Who designed that and why does UH let them design it like that?
What do you mean?
It’s not symmetrical.
LOL, symmetry doe not mean aesthetics. Form follows function.
It looks ridiculous. You wouldn’t see that at DKR or Kyle Field.
If we had more traditional students it would be symmetrical.
Here are some aerials I found from late December.

The new addition fills in the west side nicely I think. I would like to see the north side grandstand match the south side at some point. Then an east side addition could fill in the horseshoe and provide an opportunity for some more premium seating. That should get us to mid 50s which I think is a good size.
I think that they should move the band out of that facility next to the stadium and use it for more food/amenities options.
Awesome, Those are legit drum corps that will be performing. Bout time they came back to Houston. Even just watching the drum lines warmup in the lot is a good time. Anyone who’s never been, highly recommend! Extremely talented musicians
I think that’s the stupidest idea I’ve ever heard.
Ok, this is also stupid. Neither of those stadiums are symmetrical. Kyle Field is whack.
Total non-starter… unless the band voluntarily asks for it.
There is no TDECU Stadium without the Spirit of Houston. Point blank. Their support was absolutely instrumental (pun intended lol) in passing the stadium referendum…
Everything we have today (the stadium, Big 12, etc.) was much closer than you think to never happening. SoH is one of the main reasons we beat the odds.
There are MANY prominent asymmetrical elements to both DKR and Kyle. lol
Knowing where the band used to be, there’s zero chance they agree to just move out, especially to accommodate businesses that are practically guaranteed to fail, based on past experience. Total silliness.
I also know the folks who raised the money for the band facility raised close to 9m for it including the largest gift ever from a foundation.
At the time of initial construction the space was called a 25,000 GSF academic services building, ended up being almost 40k sqft., if I remember correctly it allowed for the university to use non-athletic funds to help with construction. It’s not all about football and it’s not like the stadium side wall of the facility is not concessions stands already.
Here is info about the fundraising.
A band is the reason we have TDECU? ok. Where were they before the stadium was built? They should put them back there. I don’t see any other stadium with their band connected to the stadium. That’s space that could be used.
