Starbucks to let people use their own cups

Forget any environmental impact, this could be great for Starbucks bottom line. Cut back on the cups, lids, straw expenses.

Also I could see this being pretty convenient for consumer too. No worry bout the cup being too hot to hold, lid not on tight enough, etc.

I’m not a regular at Starbucks or coffee shops at all so it doesn’t really affect me. I just intrigued by this.

That sounds… Even more miserable for employees.

When will they replace them with robots?

Well, I have never!

Soon… They may want to learn how to operate, or repair, said robots…

Did we learn anything from covid? People bringing in their own unwashed cups and contaminating their machines? No thanks.

Good point. You know the “speak to the manager types” are going to bring in their own nasty cups and expect, nay demand the employees accept and fill them. I can see the online videos now.

Surely the employees will be required to wash the cups before, right? It’s not like that would take much to do.

Article says the onus of the clean cup will be on the customer. Cleaning to food standards does in fact take some degree of time, in an actual food establishment.

This is a nice idea, that’s going to have bad implementation, and it’s going to get ugly.

Well, this seems like a pretty bad idea then. Lol

I have a fancy Italian super auto that makes pretty good coffee. I haven’t been to a Starbucks for personal coffee since, but will still meet friends there once in a while. I don’t buy their beans either, I go to a local place that does daily roasting on site.

My wife is a teacher and receives hundreds of dollars in Starbucks gift cards at Christmas time. That’s typically why we go there.

Otherwise if you’re in Spring Branch, try:

Cambrian Coffee (plus they have awesome sausage rolls)

Slowpokes

Your automobile makes coffee? Wow!

Italians love their coffee! My Italian hair drier also makes great coffee.

I don’t think the cup, Starbucks’ or a customer’s, ever touches a machine. They just pour into the cups. So not a big deal.

The cross contamination issues are untenable.

This should not be permitted by local health departments.

Another reason not to patronize those union busters.

This brings germs to the workplace let alone other patrons.
