Kellen has watched his father so long he probably knows what he’s dreaming. If Kellen can recruit the same types of players then it’s gonna be just like CKS.
It will be interesting to see what Price, Beard, and Goldwire do once Kellen takes over. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them leave UH and plant more seeds of the Sampson tree. Kellen then has the opportunity to bring in his own staff. High risk, high reward.
I would be surprised if Kellen taking over had much to do with the assistants’ career choices. They know he’s HCIW now; it’s not like they’re getting overlooked for an open job. They may naturally leave due to career progression – assistants don’t last forever – but I don’t think CKS retiring would create any sort of exodus among the coaching staff.
Tony Bennett succeeded his dad at Washington State and raised the program to a higher level. His dad wasn’t as successful as Kelvin by a long shot, but he had done well at Wazzu.
Exactly. Many college coaches have had fathers that were coaches at the HS level and beyond. That guarantees neither success nor failure for their sons.
I’m still shaking my head at why this thread was ever posted at this juncture of the season. There will be 6 months between the end of this season and the beginning of the 26-27 one.
