Still Giving CWF a Mulligan

This season has definitely been worse than we hoped for CWF’s first season. It was hard to imagine that our offense was going to be this bad.

But it was a tall task to win games with 60+ new players and top 10 toughest schedule in the country.

However, the defense has been fairly good. And CDH left the cupboard bare. I am still giving CWF a mulligan for this season. He has a huge task of keeping recruiting class together and will likely have to make adjustments to coaching staff at end of season.

Let’s just keep supporting our Coogs. CWF can get the job done. Just can’t expect it to be this season.

LOL. No one wants to pay for and suffer through consecutive shutouts. When Tom Herman was hired, he created excitement and interest amongst Houstonians with no connection to UH. You could just feel that he was building something special listening to him on the radio before his first season. H-town Takeover was brilliant marketing and Herman’s success made UH football relevant in this city in a way it hadn’t been in my 40+ year lifetime. What you have with Fritz is the exact opposite. Lifeless, boring and old. Fritz is going to be in the same category as the Love Doctor and Dimel as the worst coach in UH history. Get rid of him after this season before irreparable damage is done.

Herman looks more like a flash in the pan as more & more time goes on. He was the beneficiary of a well stocked cupboard & I think there a lot of coaches that would have done very well with that team.

Year 1 coaches are not successful a large amount of time.

Glad you aren’t in a decision making position for UH. CWF may not ultimately work out. But he will have the opportunity to do so. 5 games is not that opportunity.

Herman caught lightning in a bottle. His first year was absolutely brilliant but it is an exception, not the norm for 1st year coaches.

Any serious golfer knows there is no such thing as a mulligan. Might as well prop up your ball on the fairway too…

This year is beyond disappointing… but I guess we get what we wish for.

Herman was handed Greg Ward and a stacked roster on a silver platter coming off a bowl win. Fritz inherited Dana’s neglect. Wanting to run Fritz off after 5 games is childish. Basically every publication I read (Dave Campbell, Phil Steele, Lindy) all picked us last but had high praise for the Fritz hire. They didn’t just pick us last because they hate us. Could they have been wrong? Sure but they did the research and they were right. Maybe they’re right about Fritz too.Time will tell. There’s no fault in being foolishly optimistic, everyone wants to win. We’re finding out how bad things got around here. I guarantee you Fritz isn’t some crazy old man that doesn’t know what he’s doing. I do think he needs to figure out how to work with what he has and not force them into something they keep failing at. Square peg round hole.

This season has gone about the way I was expecting. What team did y’all see in the offseason? We were always going to struggle on offense

And even worse with no QB.

I think everyone expected a heap of problems. I don’t think anyone was expecting “worst offense in decades” like these last two have are the types of performances that when put together constantly lose new fans forever.

Like if someone asked me this year, “Why should I go to the game when there is so much more to do?” I couldn’t come up with a credible answer, because this is just depressing.

Appreciate your 2 pennies, Dana.

Hard to get upset at CWF since everything is going about how I expected. If you are this disappointed be mad at TF and RK, since the made the hire. A man can only be who he is, he cannot be anyone else.

To me, if he is the program builder that they say he is, then we should begin to see serious improvement by the end of the season. It doesn’t mean we will win a bunch of games, but we will make our opponents work hard for their wins. By next season we should be hitting 4-6 wins, and by season 3, 8-10. If we are making the same mistakes early next season, then we need to start thinking about our other options.

I mean he’s a tool, but he’s not wrong.

We need a Jack Pardee/John Jenkins kind of staff.
We have the Jack Pardee in Fritz (good defense), we just need to find a John Jenkins for the offense.

Well hell let’s just bring Hoss back anyways. w
What’s the worst that happens at this point?

We’re not firing a coach after one season. Going from Levine to Herman and Holgorsen to Fritz are 2 very different situations. And if we were going for a Herman type hire we would not have selected Fritz to begin with. This was a trust the process hire from jump so I’m not sure why folks are shocked and dismayed. There was a reason why the O/U for wins was 3.5. That told me then what this season was going to be like and I mentally prepared myself and stayed away from the kool-aid. Looks like others did not hence all the overly emotional reactions lol

Hire a new OC and grab some offensive linemen from the portal. We’ll have a new QB next year that can pass and run. Do that and this offense starts to put points on the board. Keep building up the defense to go with a competitive offense and we’re in business.

We’ve been whiffing on OL for a while now. What’s gonna change? It takes cash to bring good players in from the portal.

You can say he doesnt have talent to win at all and stuff but how do you explain the penalties, lack of culture, not improving & hiring a bad OC then… Lol. The team hasnt scored a TD in so long.

I’m not even asking him to win. I just want to celebrate a touchdown or a FG
