The University of Houston Swimming & Diving team will close out the 2016 portion of their season at the prestigious AT&T Winter National Championships in Atlanta, from Dec. 1-3, while the Cougar divers will travel to College Station, Texas, to face the Aggies in dual meet fashion on Dec. 3 at the Rec Center Natatorium.
Eleven Cougars – Cameron Balkom, Zarena Brown, Ashley Grijalva, Hannah Herbst, Gaby Jimenez, Peyton Kondis, Eleanna Koutsouveli, Laura Laderoute, Sharo Rodriguez, Victoria Roubique and Ksenia Yuskova – will represent the Cougars alongside over 400 other athletes from a host of universities and club programs at the AT&T Winter National Championships beginning Thursday morning.
The 4x100 medley relay team captured seventh overall while freshman Zarena Brown nabbed a 16th place finish in 500-yard freestyle as the Cougars took to the pool at the AT&T Winter National Championships at the Georgia Tech McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta on Thursday.
Junior Ksenia Yuskova captured the University of Houston Swimming & Diving team’s second top-10 finish on the second day of the AT&T Winter National Championships at the Georgia Tech McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta on Friday.
Junior diver Micaela Bouter swept the diving events at Texas A&M dual meet in College Station, Texas as the Cougar swimmers wrapped up competition at the AT&T Winter National Championships at the Georgia Tech McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta on Saturday.
“I am pleased with the overall effort for the last three days,” Swimming & Diving Head Coach Ryan Wochomurka said. “We came to this meet to learn and gain experience in the midst of some heavy training. We walked away with a clearer picture of things we need to address moving forward. Now we have to work with a clear objective as we move into the championship phase of the season.”
