I used to know a couple of people who fell down the wormhole of believing that they couldn’t be forced to pay taxes, and that the law only required that they file a return. They had a whole manifesto about how taxation was illegal and they weren’t acknowledging any liability by filing a return.
They had to literally bury money in the yard an couldn’t own any property in their names to avoid seizure.
One of the guys said he wished he’d never started doing it but that he was too far in the hole to try to go back.
