TBT Championship Game

For $2M. La Familia (Kentucky alums) vs Davis Steel (Mix of college alums and international players) August 2, 2026, 12:00 PM, CDT, in Lexington, KY.

Without a UH team, I have barely followed TBT this year.

Me too… I don’t know if the TBT will make it… think it might just be a flash in the pan.

Why do you say that?

I only care about it with Forever Coogs in it.

To tie up this thread, Davis Steel defeated La Familia 67-59, on La Familia’s home court (Kentucky’s home court). This is the second year in a row that Davis Steel, a/k/a Eberlein Dr. eliminated La Familia.

Forever Coogs fans may remember Eberlein Dr., who Forever Coogs defeated Eberlin Dr. 76-73 in 2024. Eberlein Dr. rebranded in 2026 as Davis Steel.

Davis Steel had an epic comeback to win the game before the finals to advance… they were down 69-64 with the elam ending set at 71 and made some stops and hit some shots.

Love the elam ending!!!

I just don’t know if there is enough hardcore basketball fans to keep it profitable…

We’ll have to look at the tv numbers when they come out…

I tuned into that one late 4th quarter as I was flipping channels . It was a lot of fun, that Elam ending was great.

Me too!

It has been around since 2014. Not too bad of a run for an offseason basketball event. I was disappointed there was no Forever Coogs team this year though.

The leader of Forever Coogs seemed to be Rob Gray. He was recruiting players, marketing the tournment, doing whatever he could for Forever Coogs. I’m sure it was frustrating getting wishy-washy commitments, having players back out at the last minute. At some point, it is more of a hassle than it is worth. Maybe the spark will return, and Forever Coogs can field another competitive team.

Yeah… but it’s only seen growth since partnering with Fox. So, it’s livelihood as a viable annual tournament depends on whether Fox sees it as a valuable asset… which depends on tv viewership continuing to rise enough annually to continue to make more $ from advertising…

We’ll see…
