And this post right here shows you admit you should have been
More clear what you were talking about…
Fair enough. I did not realize it was a sincere misunderstanding. I thought you were mocking the sport wide epidemic statement which I thought was pretty self-explanatory… But now I realize you were just asking a question.
My bad.
I will put the majority of the blame on parents number one and HS coaches number two.
There are tons of bad coaches that don’t give a crap about the kids….but parents need to educate themselves….they can’t just sit blindly in the stands and watch their kids arms being abused.
And there are other parents where the dads KNOW their kids should not be throwing as much yet the love that their kids are the “ good pitchers”….and they live vicariously through them….so they just sit and watch it happen.
The high school coaches are horrible….not all, but many.
I won’t throw out names but I have watch one “successful “ HS coach personally be responsible for sending future D-1 kids to college with damaged arms and they flat out don’t care.
When you pitch a kid 150 pitches on a Thursday or Friday and then use him for 30/40 pitches trying to close out a playoff game the next day you should freaking be arrested……or at least have your a$$ kicked.
Can you even do that anymore? I thought UIL rules had clamped down on pitch counts in the last few years so that a varsity pitcher was limited to 110 pitches in a game with a mandated 4 days of rest after that if they exceed 85 pitches in a day.
Now, the pitch count doesn’t tell the whole story, as every player responds differently, but that should at least limit some of the damage Texas HS coaches can do (don’t know if other states have similar rules).
I found this.
No, they implemented the new rules maybe 5-7 years ago to keep jerkoffs from ruining arms.
Agree with this 100%. It’s sad that there even has to be a rule but coaches and parents have become so selfish that we need rules to protect their own kids from them.
When you have 5 in one month, it is not by coincidence. They were abusing their pitchers at the beginning of the year and the players paid for it. That had nothing to do with HS coaches or Summer coaches. It had to do with the UH coaches and how they were using them in the games, as well as what they were doing during “off” days. The kid last year who was our number 1 starter, Jsxon Jelkin, did not pitch at the end of last year because of the way they handled his injury. That is way he transferred to Kentucky. That has nothing to do with coincidence at all.
Is Jelkin at UK or did he sign from the draft? I lost track of him.
He’s at UK and redshirting.
