Maybe we can pull out some foldable chairs to get to an even 40k.
Yet, the stadium size is perfect.
The stadium size is perfect. Letâs fill up what we have and create some demand. Plus, looks so much better on tv. The cameras canât tell the difference between 40 or 50k.
What will be the next sellout? A game in late 2024 when weâre nationally ranked?
If itâs going to be the biggest video board in Texas, it would have to be bigger than A&M which is 163x47 and 7,661 square feet.
The width of a football field is 160 feet and our board looks a little smaller than that so maybe our board will be taller than A&Mâs board, which means ours may be larger in square footage.
The people shown on the video board will also count for attendance numbers, bringing us just over 40k for sellouts.
We have never consistently filled a 50K stadium, historically we avg 25-35k at best
Maybe Pez is including the side speakers to the dimensions.
Yes, I said we should grow to consistently fill a 50k stadium.
I suspect the quote was supposed to be the biggest BIG12 videoboard in Texas.
With the projected decline in birth rates and teenagers in the next decade, the prospects of expansion to a 50k stadium is slim to none.
Look at UT, Baylor, and UH the past few years where the basketball arenas have been reduced.
Big teams across college football are reducing too.
FSU reduced their capacity when they remodeled their stadium.
Stanford reduced their capacity when it was remodeled their stadium.
That along with the affordability of giant high definition televisions and streaming of all games meaning people who may have previously bought the cheaper seats can stay home or go to a bar for a better game watching experience. College stadiums and arenas are reducing capacities to make room for more luxury seating options and bigger and better videoboards. My prediction is we will never add a second deck of bleachers, if we ever add on it will be to add things like a lower price point club with less amenities, even more chairbacks, enclosed party patios ect.
Is length and width equally important, or is one more important than the otherâŠ
Ask the ladies lol
Take it easy on Pez, he is currently concerned with making sure we can wear BLUE jerseys when we want to âŠâŠGEEZ !!
YeahâŠgotta keep your eye on the prize. Just as soon as the blue souvenir shirts come out I will buy none.
Personally, I am more interested in stadium upgrades that allow for much better technology integration such as wifi or streaming in stadium. Also building in options for better TV and streaming technology for those that watch from elsewhere as that is the future. Fans that can tune in a get really cool interactive experiences will come back vs those that just get the same single shot on TV as has been done for the past 70 years. Imagine being set up to have your 65 in TV with the main image while having two smaller pictures with different views you can select such as birds eye and a QB viewpoint from a helmet cam stream. Just need the infrastructure build into the stadium for the media companies to tie into.
PS, if the new scoreboard has more space for live in-game stats, that would be good to.
The article literally says that they are going to expand by connecting the entire upper deck
Until we have 5 straight years of sellouts and a waiting list for season tickets, I donât want to hear about stadium expansion.
