But in the NFL, MOB and NBA they have followings and are announced on national TV.
I have always been of the opinion that we should have no idea who the refs and umps are. They should not be part of the game day experience.
I think it really started with over the top home plate up a and that one old bald NBA ref during Jordan’s time. He would be interviewed after games.
