The end game isn’t the Ten Commandments.
The intent of this law and the people behind it, in my opinion, is to do just that.
Except this law does specify a specific set or interpretation of the ten commandments. As mentioned elsewhere in this thread, there are different accepted versions depending on religion, religious sect, etc. This law chooses one specifically.
Yes I understand that, and that is exactly why this law is unconstitutional, in my opinion.

They never win these suits. An agent of the state cannot promote religion without being in violation of the establishment clause.
I mean in normal times the Thomas Court is a different animal.

If you ask people do you have a problem with the 10 Commandments being in a school, what do you think the vast majority of Americans are going to say?
Do you really think the vast majority of Americans are going to pontificate on if this is a separation of church and state issue?

That’s not how this works. Constitutionally we don’t jerk off the religious majority at the expense of religious minorities.

Since the early 1970’s. Prior to that we had school prayer.
That’s the wrong question to ask. It should be, “do you have a problem with a law mandating the 10 Commandments be posted in public school classrooms”
Or “do you have a problem with a law mandating specific religious rules be posted in public school classrooms”.
Just look at this forum here, which is a microcosm, the majority here seem to be against it.
Really though, especially now with the various book bans, you think people will be apathetic enough to just not care?
It is a minority that is pushing for this. Not the other way around.

The Louisiana State mandate will be struck down (I think) but that isn’t what this is about. It is about giving the local districts the right to set policy.

Local districts already can set policy within their constitutional powers. This is a push for mandating religion in public schools, period.
