Lost to Kansas, beat Iowa State. It looks like we will need an upset of #19 UCF this weekend or #26 Oklahoma state the following one to make NCAAs now.

Lost UCF 1-4 and are ranked 41 right on the bubble but caught a HUGE break as OK State has so many injuries that they have to forfeit the match against us this weekend (will be counted in the standings as a Coog W our first against them since 1998 but sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good!). That should push us back into the 30s and leaves us only with matches against 3 of the worst teams in conference (KSU, WV, UC) plus the conference tournament. We should be IN the NCAAs for the first time in over a decade as long as we take care of business!

OK, so we finished the season with conference wins over WVU and Cincy.
Overall 18-5 on the season, 8-5 in the Big 12.
Will this be enough to get us in the NCAA tourney?
I understand we still have the Big 12 tourney, but I was hoping we could also get in as an at-large, if necessary.

It seems to me that our new coach is following the “Brad Underwood” strategy: recruit a bunch of Euro players!

Unfortunately it looks bleak. Lost again to tech in the first round of the conference tournament and needed to win a round to stay inside the bubble. Unfortunately the non-conference schedule was very weak and those wins did not hold up. Coming off a couple of beatdown seasons, I understand why she did it that way but it’s a shame because I think this was absolutely an NCAA caliber team. We had wins over a couple of tournament teams (BYU, Utah) and very close 3-4s against a couple of teams that ended up near top 25 (Arizona, tech). I think all 6 of our losses were to tournament teams, but we needed a stronger nonconference SOS.

Well it makes sense since she is not American. I can’t even tell you the last American letterwinner we had. I was watching the SEC mens tennis final on SEC network and there was only 1 American boy among the starting 12 so it’s not just us.
Next look for her to take half of our team with her. Just like she did when she came here.
