I knew there were talks of something like that. I have no idea where Bridgeland is, not sure if I ever heard of it before. However, looks like it was developed by the Howard Hughes company.

It’s essentially Cypress, but regardless, this is the dumbest decision this franchise has made since hiring BOB

We are the HOUSTON TEXANS. Not the Bridgeland Texans.

I’m sure the athletes are gonna have fun driving all the way to Bridgeland and back.

They should’ve spent money on rebuilding the area surrounding NRG. What a stupid decision this is.

I’m pretty sure the athletes will manage. I know they all don’t live close to NRG, but even still they can plan and buy homes closer to the new practice facility if they want. At least, those players still with the team in 3 years.

My guess, there wasn’t enough land to acquire at the right price. Unless UT finally sold some of that controversial parcel they had.

Only thing I know about Bridgeland is that Connor Weigman is from there.

relax, there is no stadium there; yet; but i have no doubt anywhere on the gulf coast that will build a stadium and include retail will get it.
you have the arlington cowboys and santa clara 49ers; so its coming. conroe or baytown texans; not sure which i like best.

It’s just dumb

If they move out to those areas, then they need to change the name from Houston

I wouldn’t even consider anything outside the beltway to be Houston

Edit: actually I take it back. Maybe moving the Texans somewhere else will get more people to come to UH games!!!

As was said our starting Cougar QB is from Bridgeland. :football:

Does this mean the inflatable bubble training site across from NRG will be
gone or will they still need that as well ?

Per Chronicle it will be an entertainment district - Toro District.

And best of all, it sounds like Harris county residents get to help fund it some how.

The new facility would be in the Bridgeland area in northwest Harris County on an 83-acre site. It will be a public-private partnership between the Texans, Harris County, and Howard Hughes Communities, which developed Bridgeland as well as The Woodlands.

It’s unclear how much the project would cost, or who is responsible for paying what, but the county’s proposed contribution will be $150 million and would be funded through a tax increment reinvestment zone (TIRZ).

The Texans have long wanted to build a new headquarters and training facility. They currently are one of only five franchises in the NFL to house their headquarters in the same building they play home games. The others are the Carolina Panthers, Cincinnati Bengals, Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots, with the latter in the process of building a new facility.

Harris County owns NRG Stadium and currently leases out the facility to the Texans and the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, which share the facility along with the county. That lease ends in 2032. For the Texans, that setup hasn’t been ideal, as they’ve had to move their schedule around county events and the rodeo, which kicks off its season later this month.

Everybody is a winner !

Not really.

The Jets and Giants play in New Jersey, yet they are still both the NEW YORK Giants.

How did that work out last time?

If the New York Giants and Jets can be in New Jersey and the Chicago Bears in Indiana, the Houston Texans can be in Bridgeport.

You pay me millions of dollars, I’ll sit in 2 hour traffic, both ways, no problem.

Still have the Rockets and Astros.

The Cowboys haven’t been in Dallas (either the stadium or training facilities) since the early 70s. Not that I want to mimic them.

Don’t worry about it buddy. Cypress isn’t a city, but an area though addresses say Cypress because of the nearby post offices.

That area is Houston’s Extraterritorial Jurisdiction, which means one day Houston will annex that area and the Texans will actually be in the city of Houston. Cinco Ranch is also in the ETJ.

Download the map to see it. Houston already annexed businesses along highways and major streets to collect sales taxes but in a decade or so, they will start annexing those nearby residential areas. I believe that is state and community approved.

Bridgeland is a nice area with a lot of land to be developed. It may be easier for athletes to travel up from Sugarland along the Grand Parkway than to travel downtown. It reminds me of when they built the astrodome and everyone thought it was too far out in the country. I’ve owned two homes in Bridgeland and glad I got out before that happens. But probably a good move for the future Texans.

I assume this is going to be like or better than the Star in Frisco and give Cypress ISD access to a indoor football stadium.

Will their headquarters be funded by private money only?

I believe the county is paying for infrastructure in the area.
