Texas Bowl

I think the Texas Bowl has one of the first 4 picks in the conference so they aren’t picking a 6-6 or 7-5 UH team when they are better teams they could bring to their game.

I’m not so sure about them rejecting a 7-5 UH team. I think we would draw a pretty good crowd.

They could probably get an Oklahoma or Oklahoma State, teams that travel well and would patronize hotels and restaurants.

You don’t think that those schools will have better options than the Texas Bowl? (I don’t know the bowl pecking order for the Big 12)

In 2023, the Big 12’s bowl tie-ins are as follows:

  • College Football Playoff/New Year’s Six.
  • Alamo Bowl.
  • Pop-Tarts Bowl.
  • Texas Bowl.
  • Liberty Bowl.
  • Guaranteed Rate Bowl.
  • Armed Forces Bowl/First Responder Bowl (this is a flex pick between the two bowls).
  • Independence Bowl.

If we get to 6 its probably Fort Worth or Independence.

Yikes.

There are 6 teams with 6 wins already and another with 5 in the league. If we get to 6 we either go to one of those last 2 or somewhere where a conference doesn’t have enough teams to fill all their tie-ins.

Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl

Bonagura: UCF vs. Washington State
Schlabach: Houston vs. Washington State

The same projections has A$M vs OU in Texas Bowl

I think I would rather that than Fort Worth. But of course this is moot if they don’t win two more.

I hope the weather is better this year if thats where we end up. I heard it was brutal there last year.

Big 12 Bowl Eligible Teams
Texas
OKLA ST
KANSAS
OKLAHOMA
KANSAS ST
WEST VIRGINIA
Iowa ST and BYU at 5 wins
UH, TECH,TCU and UCF at 4 with 3 weeks to go

I don’t travel north of I-10 for a bowl unless it’s in Cali or stadium has a roof. Too many miserable games starting w the Cotton Bowl vs ND

I’m still gonna be okay with six wins, but sure sounds like it’s going to be rewarded with getting curbstomped by Air Force in that Fort Worth Bowl

I would bet they jump all over us against Aggie in a Texas bowl if we get to 6. Thats a sellout. See ou/UH 2016. Hotel folks ts.

Does the Texas Bowl have trouble selling out?

Yes. Date usually sucks as close to Christmas. Had a few in the 60,000+ range

Army killed the Applewhite
Air Force killed the Holgorsen

I would full send LOVE to go to an AF vs UH bowl game

That would be a sellout all right with about 10-15K Coog fans and the rest Aggies. I f UH won it would be the swan song for Jimbo. Assuming CDH was still coaching, it would seal his return. By getting to a bowl he would probably already be sealed for next season.
