When did the Port of Galveston become a destination for cruise ships?

People come from far and away that live inland and have never seen the ocean before, and they incorporate Galveston as part of their cruise experience. Sad for them that Galveston is their first experience with the “ocean”

Thats what I mean. They come to Galveston to leave because its the closest port. Ain’t nobody booking a cruise to Galveston. Well, maybe there are some brown water, seaweed, man-o-war loving fools are out there but not many.

Somebody from Houston is jaded about Galveston. Visitors, however, see “Texas”. I’m sure there are excursions as they have at any port. Besides an historic tour of Galveston, there are fishing trips, visiting a cattle ranch, cooking lessons, etc.

It is cool that Galv has so many cruise ships though. I keep saying I want to go on one someday. Maybe that happens in a year or two?

The only cruise that I would be even slightly interested in taking would be an Alaskan cruise. I live in Houston. I hate hot weather. I am not paying to go on a cruise that will take me to other places with hot weather.

We took a 7 day land & 7 day cruise. The land portion was beyond spectacular.

Galveston is the hottest spot you will be on a summer cruise from Galveston
In the fall you can leave a 50 degree day here and enjoy 70s and 80s to the south
Very enjoyable
