Texas Trivia July 25

Which Texas town is known as the “Black-Eyed Pea Capital of the World”?

Easy. Arlington, Texas. Home of the only remaining Black Eyed Pea in Texas.

I stayed a night in Arlington earlier this year, and my second biggest regret was not eating at the Black Eyed Pea.

My biggest regret? Being in Arlington. :anguished:

Could’ve been worse. You could’ve been in Dallas.

I don’t know where one ends and the other begins. Once you get past Corsicana, it’s all the same to me.

Athens. The good-luck lentil became associated with the town when local businessman J.B. Henry commercialized the distribution of dried black-eyed peas in 1909. After World War II, the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce reportedly recruited Elmore “Tiger” Torn, father of the actor “Rip” Torn, to promote black-eyed peas around the world for their health and agricultural benefits and their supposed propensity to bring good fortune.

I didn’t know any of those existed anywhere these days.
