THANK YOU! History of the Pride

This past saturday, I had the honor of being invited out to set up my display for the alumni tailgate, right outside the Life members party.
To say it was incredible would be an understatement.
To anyone who came over and saw me, and spoke to me, I sincerely appreciate you & I thank you so much!
Doing this has gotten me the opportunity to meet so many new people & gotten me the change to connect with so many people that I wouldn’t have gotten the chance to.
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE!
And if you didn’t make it out, take a look at some of the pictures from Saturday.

I own/run a pop-up museum that works with alumni groups and other associations from the university, to talk about the history of the campus/school/university.
I bring out (and set up) several items that have historical significance to the school (ranging from the 1953 Cougar Guard jacket, to the late 60’s band uniform, to the twirlers uniform, to cotton bowl jersey & player watches). I tell stories about the items and where they come from.
I love history (I’m a history guy, and I love the university, so this is a way for me to combine the two, along with allowing others to check out the memorabilia that I have collected over the years.
You can find me on all platforms.

Thank you Jason for doing this! I contend we need to get our story out to the world . There is so much to be proud about and your contribution is a big step to doing that .

Don’t thank me.
I am the one who needs to thank everyone who is helping me along the way.
I appreciate everyone who listens to what I have to say.

I think we should have a part of the building specifically for our history!

I have tried.
I have even talked to Judge Yeoman about getting something set up, so that people can see where we have come from.
Without our history, there is no present.

We used to. It was in the Athletics building for over two decades open to the public almost everyday. They didn’t put any protective coating or film on the floor to ceiling glass windows to the displays though, and over the course of 20 plus years the daily sun that poured in damaged (i.e., ruined) the ever living heck out of tons of items, many of which were irreplaceable, one of a kind, game used items. If/when they ever set up a University display again, they need to bring in a professional / trained museum curator to do it right so that more history isn’t lost, but instead preserved.

All those items were taken to a storage unit, and are sitting there collecting dust.
When the new football operations building is built, hopefully they can bring some of it back.

Yes Jason, but you know as well as I do that many of them were faded and ruined before they were removed. We’ve discussed this in person. It was poorly designed / curated in the old facility.

Oh I agree with you.
There was a lot that could have been changed about the set up.
