The CBS Sports Analysis is Correct

Francis was miles better than jojo in the post by the time he left.

Bottom line is Roberts is the missing link here. Francis really improved his last year but he was not a go to player in the post at crunch time.
No way Tugler was going to replace Roberts scoring down low and the coaches knew it. I think something backfired during the recruiting process and we ended up with Sahko.
Not demeaning Sahko because frankly he has been better than I expected, but he may actually be worse than Tugler with the ball down low

I agree that we had a recruiting miss, which lead to Sakho.

The drop off from Francis to Sakho is quite striking!

Could be the injuries to McFarland got us to this problem.

Cenac gets the ball in the paint and immediately turns back to basket and passes it out. Frustrating to see a 7-footer do that

I agree on McFarland. I know our staff was real high on him

McFarland did not replace our Big Men as was expected.

He now becomes a possible 2026-27 Starter.

So this YT guy sees the same things that I see. Good to know that I am not crazy.

Dumb take. By that standard, CKS should be fired after the season. I mean, he did recruit them.

Back to what CBS actually said.

We are a jump-shooting team.

In a recent interview Sampson said that himself. He also said that “you can win that way”.

So what we don’t have compared to last season is Roberts/Francis/Tugler.

We have Tugler/Cenac/Sakho. Which so far seems to be inferior to last year.

So we shoot jump shots.

Look, I loved Roberts for many reasons, but dude missed point blank layups and bunnies at a rate unseen since Larry Smith. If we are hanging our hat on his “offensive prowess”, then that explains a lot.

We are a jump shooting team because we, like literally 99% of most basketball teams, don’t have skilled post players. The last truly skilled post-player we had was Josh Carlton. He could finish around the rim and step out. That is what we need if we don’t want to be a jump shooting team.

Our real issue (other than lack of consistent post play) is that we only have one true penetrating guard (Flemings). Uzan is not bad, but he is either scared or can’t do it. Sharpe is not a good enough ball handler to drive to the hoop.

I’ll revisit this thread after we hang 75 tonight
