One of the things that gave me hope against Duke was their game against Arizona.
I feel the same about Florida due to their game against Texas Tech, who could have easily beaten them in the Elite 8. This has the makings of an exciting, tight game, but of course the Coogs will have to be at their best to bring it home.

Man, if there was ever a year to exorcise those Phi Slama Jama ghosts from ’83 and finally hang that banner—this is it.
The Coogs have:
• The #1 defense in the nation
• A clutch squad with serious battle-tested grit (see: comeback vs. Duke)
• A coach in Kelvin Sampson, who’s built a culture that’s all heart, hustle, and discipline
• A chance to shut down one of the hottest scorers in the tournament (Walter Clayton Jr.) with a defense that specializes in shutting down stars
Florida’s tough, no doubt. That offense is real, and Clayton is a flamethrower. But if Houston slows him down and keeps the pace uncomfortable—grinding, physical, and ugly—that’s Coog basketball. That’s the recipe.
Final score prediction?
Houston 69 - Florida 64
Banner goes up. Phi Slama Jama finally gets its redemption arc. And Houston becomes a basketball school and a football school in 2025.

The fact that Tech should have won the elite eight game, at least gives some hope to win this.

Imagine if it was Tech instead of Florida we could have bumped that rivalry up into Blood Feud level. Each wins in each others home and it comes down at an in state neutral site with the title on the line.

That was the championship game in my bracket with UH winning it.

Florida also blew Tennessee out by 10 more points and beat them again in SEC tourney.
They and Duke were our biggest threats to start this tourney and we will have to vanquish each ourselves to get the title. We can do this the hard way as that is hat we are built to do.

Clayton’s release when he shoots is the fastest I’ve seen of any player in the tournament, even faster than LJs. I feel like he’s gonna get his shots for sure. I’m hoping we can do the same thing we did to Flagg and just massively affect his shot precision.
