The Monday After: Houston’s opening should attract Power Five coaches
The Houston job is attractive enough to lure Power Five coaches

Because now that Herman is no longer at Houston, and Houston is in the market for a new coach, it has become the most interesting job opening in the country.

How about this quote:
“No offense to Baylor or Purdue, but unless the Oregon job comes open, Houston is the most interesting job opening on the market right now. It also just might be the most attractive.”

Thanks for the link!

They glossed over the Tony Levine era.

Saw the same thing… to Levine’s credit, while I think we all agree that he did not get the job done, he still had a winning record. It says a lot about the state of our program.

Thank you for posting Patrick.
I traveled quite a bit the last two days. All of the XM sports channels where mentioning th to uta. NONE talked about what this did/does to our School or even talked about us needing a Coach now. The one way comment bias was truly shocking. You realize very quickly that the national sports does not care one bit about U of H. No worries, we just NEED to keep winning. Winning cures everything.

If Tony could have solved the OC position, he might have hung on longer. But then we could not have used the current UT coach as a stepping stone to bigger and better things.

We all do that. It’s kind of like reading about certain kings in history. We know they existed, but there was nothing really to note so we move on to the next guy.

I like your spin and reversal of the common narrative.

Think about it though: Briles brought us to respectability, Sumlin brought us the 12-0 run and GameDay and the current UT coach brought us 6-0 vs. Top 25…each stone has helped us progress the brand and image. And, although Tony was a slight setback, didn’t he bring us Gibbs and the Jack Boyz that greatly benefited Orlando in the first year? I waded through a bunch of my negativity over the weekend and am ready to look at the positives.

Another year with the former coach and the speculation that surrounded him combined with no OU or Louisville on next year’s schedule, it might have turned uglier than 4th in the AAC. If the wins over OU and Louisville were replaced with Arizona and Rice, how would this 9-3 look? #FreshStart

It’s hard to disagree with you and your positive spin is fact-based. That’s why I like it.

Texas Tech you mean.

Pick any two of next year’s OOC schedule and they won’t come close to OU or Louisville from a profile perspective. This is a good time to start fresh with the next coach.
