The Rise Season 3 Episode 15\
In football news, the coaching carousel is in full swing as four American teams will have new faces on the sideline in 2017. Major Applewhite is the new head coach at Houston after spending the last two years as the Cougars’ offensive coordinator. Cincinnati has hired former Ohio State defensive coordinator Luke Fickell to be its new head man … and USF has turned to former Louisville and Texas head coach Charlie Strong to take the reins in Tampa. Next up will be Temple, whose next head coach will inherit a team that won the 2016 American Athletic Conference championship.
American men’s and women’s basketball teams enter a relatively light week as finals are ongoing and the holidays approach.
And in men’s soccer, Scott Calabrese was named the new head coach at UCF after three years at the helm at FIU.
We would also like to congratulate Five American student-athletes who were recognized as CoSIDA Academic All-Americans – UConn goalkeeper Emily Armstrong, East Carolina wide receiver Zay Jones, Memphis kicker Jake Elliott and tight end Daniel Montiel, and Temple volleyball player Kyra Coundourides. Congratulations to all five student athletes on a truly remarkable accomplishment.
