It is not important whether we win or lose, it is whether the team, coaches and athletic dept. give a fan enough things during the game to maintain a level of contempt for UH football.
Do you sunshine pumpers think that the fans that criticizes Dana aren’t real UH fans? We just want what’s best for UH. A higher bar than what Dana’s track record has been. You guys would have us wallow in mediocrity.
Thank you for saying what others are thinking.
Couldn’t have said it better myself
Sorry, but IMO this doesn’t play.
You had THREE turnovers and still only managed 17 points.
If the defense was not much improved this game would have been an easy loss.
Look at it from the UTSA perspective……they turned it over three times and still only gave up 17 points and lost by three.
They were just mentioning this on In The Loop. Lopez said Dana and co. could be in for long year. Let’s hope not. No creativity on offense.
Lopez is Aggies lover.
Blopez lol
We left points on the board. Get those fourth downs and we score another 14. I lkike being aggressive on 4th and short but maybe we should have taken the feild each time, that’s 6 points.
Our WR looked great. Smith has the arm make all the throws. If the line can open holes and push in short yardage we will have an offense that competes well
It is not about what utsa did or didn’t do. We took ourselves off the field a number of times. Clean some things up and we have another 17+ on the board.
If we were playing #4 in the country you might see them pull out all the stops, otherwise do not give them film to prepare in the B12. Next week will be bland until the B12, CDH has been here before, fans are entitled to be armchair QBs and voice their opinions but CDH has beaten UT from a small school in Morgantown.
Oh, he definitely is. He and Landry are hard to listen to at times. I do listen on occasion, however.
Any decent offensive team would’ve taken the Roadrunners to the woodshed yet we could’ve very well lost this game if not for that insane spot at the end. If you can’t see that, your blind.
Thankful for the win, about to get our ‘you know what’ handed to us when the real big boys show up.
… he definitely improved with FSU NIL and transfer portal. Before that FSU fans were ready to run him out of Tallahasse.
Dana said they were “a little conservative” and still trying to figure things out. Mmm kay, whatever you say.
I would argue with this entire post.
And there’s the over negativity based on the oversimplification of the what takes place.
I don’t know how to define woodshed but we could have certainly put up a couple more TDs but we took ourselves off the field a few times. Sometimes you need the development process to play out a little and give Smith a chance to make some better decisions.
What I could see from Smith is he has been coached and was focused on not taking off too early and making mistakes. There were a couple times he had the first down easily if he had tucked the ball and ran but he waited too long for the routes to develop and forced a tougher pass. He needed to take the plays to extend drives but I was pleased he had the confidence to be patient.
Look - I would like/wish for us to go 12-0 WITH Dana year in year out (as hard as that may be to fathom). However that remains highly unlikely with this offense (dating back to year 2 of his tenure).
In retrospect, with this offense we would’ve never beaten the teams we did in his first time here. We have some talent, but it’s not UCF talent. You can tell the difference. We are not UCF, and should be. Will we? Time will tell.
I can understand why you might feel that way, but a couple things you may want to consider: 1) CDH and the OC don’t want to show the entire playbook during week 1) No team wants to do that unless you have to in order to win, 2) CDH and the team did what was needed to win the game, and 3) We won the game. I’ll take the W and keep as much of the playbook hidden as possible every day of the week and twice on Sunday!
I agree, Chuck.
I’d add that we’re breaking in a new QB. He’s not only a new starter for us, he’s new to the program.
My guess is Dana is trying to keep things simple at first so Donovan’s not thinking. Too many options/plays, you’re thinking instead of playing. JMHO.
My one gripe. The runs up the middle constantly confound me. Our backs are not slow, plodding types. I know we need to establish a run game. But we can run off tackle once in a while and maybe you’ll open up the interior a bit.
