There are no Cougars in East Texas

Once again those Texas a&m guys(Texas Game Wardens) are wrong ! This past weekend my Cuz had a couple of his young grandsons out deer hunting on his place in East Texas. One of the boys in a stand furtherest from him fired a shot . He went over to investigate .By the time Cuz got there (maybe 30 min) the animal was gone and all that remained was the stomach laying the ground. Tracking began at once on the blood trail . There was no drag marks, only blood. The buck was found a couple of hundred yards away partially buried in pine needles and debris. Folks, this goes to show you aggy do not know what they are saying . It was a Cougar that picked up and carried this buck as far as it did without dragging it.That was a big Cougar indeed, in East Texas ! LOL!

Aggies hate that our maskot reflects the surroundings in East Texas making our maskot legit. There are plenty of maskots like LSU’s tiger that aren’t in that region. We’re legit and the aggies hate it.We’re the Coogs and cougars are in the area.

If there are cougars in Western Louisiana then obviously they are in East Texas. I have also heard the ridiculous statement Cougars are not on the east side of I-35. Like a Cougar knows they are not supposed to cross the Louisiana States Line or the intertstate. Plus Cougars hunt at night and are nocturnal hence why it be rare for people to come across them.

…and, while there are collies, born and raised, in many parts of the world, there are no rough collies (like A&M mascot “Reveille” – who, admittedly, is beautiful) that originate in east Texas – or the Americas, for that matter. :slightly_smiling_face:

Could have been Bigfoot , he eased over from his stomping grounds around Fouke, arkansas. Btw growing up in #bEASTTexas nothing more eerie than the scream of a panther or cougar from the thick woods or the howl of a wolf ( when wolves were around ). Kept me on my toes as a kid and my skin crawling .

I live in Conroe. I’ve got a neighbor that heard a commotion in his barn one night and went to investigate. He found a cougar attacking his young colt. My aunt lives about 10 miles west of Centerville, there’s a cougar on her place. Verified by game cams

I live about 9-10 miles west of Centerville, and I know there are Cougars here. Rarely seen, but they’re here. I remember when a guy in Flynn killed a big cougar. It was front page news, with a picture taken in front of The Normangee Star.

I have seen them at my place in Nacogdoches. Cougars are in Texas.

If you have not heard a Cougar scream at night then you do not know scary! Sounds like a woman to me and will give you the worst case of the willies you will ever have.
Thanks to all for verifying that there are Cougars in East Texas !

It amazes me why the state agencies are so determined to say there are no cougars.

Up here in Michigan, the DNR for years swore there were no cougars in the state. Like in Texas, there were sightings and pictures displayed. It wasn’t until one showed up on one of their own cameras that they finally had to admit that there were cougars in the state.

You are right,I do not know why all the Cougar denial !

They are sighted all around Tucson and, indeed, come into back yards near a mountain range looking for a snack. There are lots of them.

Also have photos of Jaguars in a mountain range SE of here. Trail cameras set by State Wildlife Dept. They were thought to roam only in Mexico.

Cougars have been on the golf course where we live. About 3 miles from a mountain range.
