That ship has sailed, on to new arguments
I see the Utah game as the 1st realistic chance we’ll have an announced attendance over 30,000, assuming we play competitive every game before that.
Excuse 1: there is once again no real sizzle happening. No advertising. No promoting. Oh, yeah, probably has something to do with no leadership in the athletic department.
Excuse 2: it has been 7 years of Dana and Major. That is exciting. That didn’t deflate anything.
Excuse 3: we haven’t been a winner since Herman. That was 3 coaches ago. Gonna take time to turn this tanker around.
Excuse 4: every game will be on tv, in AC, with a bathroom, and good food, and the ability to change the channel.
Excuse 5: big 12 means a lot less than it did last year.
Most foolish thread EVER!!! You whiners make me sick! Houston had a 45% increase in home attendance last year as first year member of Big 12, and averaged 36,000 a game! and that was with Dana!! We’ll do better than that this year, with our new coach…absolute idiocy saying we could average 15K…
Your prediction is duly noted.
Will look forward to seeing more butts in stands and having 15k be considered idiocy, instead of idiocy being a prediction of more after all the UT season tickets are not renewed.
Haven’t heard any exact numbers, but was told by a trusted source in the ticket office that season tickets are down significantly.
Where are all the people who said they would renew or buy tickets if Dana was gone?
I bet they came up with more excuses for 2024.
Where were the UT fans at all the other games? That longhorn buying season tickets was nothing but nonsense, as my longhorn family and friends were happy to point out…Did they all come to West Virginia game too? and the TCU game? We had few empty seats at either game.
A lot of us on this board predicted that 2024 season tickets would be a tough sell. And that was before we played our first B12 game in 2023. That prediction was as easy as fishing in a barrel.
Well said Blue !
They weren’t at the other games hence the actual butts in the seats attendance at all the other games being significantly less.
A few times a lot is a plethora of empty seats at those games. Pictures don’t lie. Your memory is off because UT season ticket holders did not go to those two games and it showed.
I remember the TCU game being a pretty good crowd once the game got going. Our fans just don’t think it’s cool to be in their seat at kickoff.
UNLV and Rice are all evening games
Granted, it’s still hot at 6pm.
I think our next AD should try and schedule Aug/Sep games in the evening as best he can.
By end of September, weather is not an excuse anymore e
Houston fans show up if you win. If you lose, they’ll seek alternative programming. Plenty of alternatives in the city.
Beat UNLV and OU, see what happens.
Don’t lose to Rice.
Last year on June 20th it was posted we had surpassed 25,000 season tickets. That number included fan paid season tickets, student tickets and any sponsorship or partnership agreement tickets, and maybe other things as well (such as visiting team tickets, tickets for players families, etc.). We seem to be thousands less than that right now looking at dots on the season ticket map.
I never said I would buy more tickets if Dana was gone. I did say I would cancel my plans to move to Angola if he was fired. I am fulfilling my promise.
I doubt many Longhorn fans bought full season tickets because they could get single game tickets for $125 including fees. However, the combo of the new Big 12 season plus Longhorns cemented Cougar fans’ and broker ticket sales.
It seems like TCU season ticket sales are down as well this year. No UT, OU or SMU in the home schedule.
Since 1976.
