This Day in History

A big day 1964 at the New York World’s Fair Ford intruduced the Mustang. They immediately released 22 000 nationwide and they sold out quickly.

Lee Iaccoca’s second greatest achievement behind saving Chrysler.

Interesting story, I worked for Hilton but couldn’t get a comp room in NYC for my honeymoon. My UH roommate’s dad was VP at Hilton International and got me a room at the Holoran House just down the street from the NY Hilton.

One day I looked out the window at this big fire in the office building across the street.

Years later, reading Iaccoca’s book, he told of the negotions nearly crashed due to a fire on the floor above them. When I saw the address, I realized we were directly across the street from the Chrysler negotiations

My Dad swears he had the first Mustang Fastback in Houston. He went down to the dealership looking to get a Mustang. They were pulling a fastback off of a truck. He asked “what is that?” “I want it”. He got it.

Fast forward, my wife and I might be buying our first Mustang this weekend.

What are your thoughts about the electric mustang?

I think it’s a cool car, but haaaate that they put a pony on it

It’s an SUV/Crossover. It’s a MINA. Mustang in Name Only

They call it a Mustang but when I saw it I went “naw”

“Electric Mustang” - sounds like the name of a 60s rock band.

Back in those days Hilton Hotels and Hilton International were two separate concerns.

Two separate concerns that really didn’t like each other.

Hilton Hotels was a public company basically controlled by the Hilton family.

Hilton International was controlled by Trans World Airlines.

Oddly, HI HQ was located at that time within the Waldorf=Astoria while HH owned and ran the joint.

The war continued for about 30 years before a re-merger.
