We have DJ’s, Announcers and advertising during every opportunity for the SOH to get involved. It is not their fault. Went to a game in Denton several years back and their band played all the time, even some when we had the ball. When I was in the band at Sam, during one playoff game, we played the school fightsong the entire 4th quarter. I’m sure that in todays atmosphere, that would be considered unsportsman like.

Yes. There are conference rules regarding when the band can play and when the PA has to shut off.

I miss the bands of my era under Bill Moffit. I can’t remember the nickname it was dubbed but it was catchy because of the innovative marching patterns and styles it performed at halftime. I also remember the Running of The Brass late in the 3rd and 4th quarters doing the Eat Em Up yell to each side of the stands. The Spirit of Houston has such boring formations; they don’t march at all, but I like their spirit in the stands.

“The Band of Tomorrow, Today”.

There are a couple of us band members from back in the 70s active on this board. Is that the moniker you are recalling?

Sorry to hear that Funk.

Pollard from San Antonio :sunglasses:

I think the marching performance was called “Patterns in Motion”. And I’m not a band person.

I am one of those Cougar dads who can no longer make it to the games. I had season tickets for almost 40 years until father time pushed me out of bounds. I ‘m fortunate to have one son who comes by to enjoy my Cougars with me. We’'ll see us pop KSU today.

I too was in the Band years ago. I have been disappointed the last few years. I agree, on the field the band is boring, stand still too much, just not exciting visually or musically.

There is SOH category right here on coogfans. Why no activity/conversation there?

Do you know there is actually a SOH category right here on Coogfans. A lot of us are interested in the band so let’s see some activity/conversation there!

Remember when the SOH, under Bill Moffit, used to form a straight line from the back of each endzone, across the field, and claim it was the longest marching band?

Was it 100 yards of band? I remember that as a kid in Dome days.

120 yards, including 10 yards for each endzone.
