Tough year for the Hermanator. 4-8 but a little unlucky as the Owls went 1-4 in games decided by one score.
I expect they’ll be much improved next year.
Unlucky or do close games come down to coaching?

Herman improved the team at Houston, then improved the team at Texas. Six winning records. Five bowl wins. Four Top 25 finishes. He can coach.

Herman recruited, won, and promoted UH. Dana doesn’t do any of those things. If there is any opportunity to get Herman on board again vs having the current status quo you do it now. Dana has wrecked this program enough.

My man, we’re a P5 team now and were down 28-zip to Rice…

Also I should add, if there is any possibility of getting a guy like Brian Hartline over here then obviously you take him over Herman. But desperate times call for desperate measures. Herman over this current mess we’re in.
If you scroll down, you will see that the population growth for people ages 5 through 19 only grew by 250K people in 12 years (2010 vs 2022). That is extremely small. On the other hand, the population of people over 65 grew by 1.5 million.
Anecdotally, what I see in the Atlanta Metro suggests that many people who are choosing to have kids are leaving FL because of the school situation and the COL, especially housing. It is extremely expensive, especially compared to GA, NC and TN. There are so many former Miamian’s in Atlanta now that we are developing our own little Latin enclaves, although it tends to be Brazilians, Dominicans and Haitians.
That is how Phil Steele looks at it. If you lost a lot of one score games you will be much improved the next year.
If you won a bunch of one score games you will likely decline.
All our big wins were one score games.
So people want us to replace a guy that lost to Rice with another guy that lost to Rice.

We are giving him style points for his loss to Rice. Unlike knucklehead.
