Really sad news. My daughter knew Tony very well when she was working in Cougar Pride and the UH alumni Association. Tony was always around helping out wherever he could. We have lost a lot of our older Coogs recently.
Condolences to his family and many friends.
If you knew him, you loved him. What a positive force in Cougardom. And the only person I ever knew who served in both WW2 and the Korean war.
God bless you, my friend!
RIP…idk this man, but I share his passion for helping others & trying to make things better.
That being said, does anyone know if we can we still volunteer with the UH Athletics’ offices?
Man, 99? Dude played a lot of house money especially serving in 2 wars.
Such a good guy. Godspeed Tony
Man, I can’t live past 73 or 74….if I do I’ll run out of income.
Damn big loss. That gentleman carried himself like he was the Athletic Director. Always helpful. I remember during Mack you got your basketball tickets on a sheet and you tore them out. I had picked mine up and I left them on top of the atm machine. I was having my cold one and watching warm-ups when I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was Tony with my tickets. He said, “I’ll trade you these season tickets for that cup you have in your hand.”
One Cool Dude. Will be missed
TONY was the ultimate Cougar. Back in my mobile days I often visited with coaches and Cougar Pride executives, He was always there doing what he could. God speed Tony.
May his memory be eternal!!!
- What a run!
Prayers to his family, to all of his friends and the Coogs family.
99 is admirable. Seems like he helped alot of people. Rest peacefully Bruno Coog
OMG, I loved Tony. He was such a wonderful guy. So sorry to hear this.
I sat across the table from him at a reception dinner in Lubbock before a football game with TT.
