I’m surprised Popeyes didn’t make the list, something that delicious can’t be good for you.
Top Ten Unhealthiest Fast Food Chains In America
Wendy’s: The Triple Baconator meal clocks in at over 2,000 calories, and the chain’s deals and late-night hours encourage frequent overindulgence.
Sonic: With massive portions and sugary drinks, like the 44-ounce Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Master Shake, Sonic packs an alarming calorie and sugar punch.
Taco Bell: Its loaded burritos and combos sneak in sky-high calorie and sodium levels.
Dairy Queen: Blizzards and fried combo baskets often push a single meal past the 2,000-calorie mark.
KFC: A three-piece Extra Crispy combo delivers about a full day’s worth of salt, saturated fat, and calories in one go.
Quiznos: Oversized subs like the Classic Italian hit about 1,300 calories and pack in excessive sodium, making it a heavy nutritional load.
McDonald’s: A standard Big Mac meal can hit 1,300 calories, thanks to its fries and soda pairings.
Smashburger: Stacked burgers like the BBQ Bacon Cheddar burger, plus decadent shakes, make this chain a caloric heavyweight.
Little Caesars: One pepperoni pizza—marketed as an everyday meal—can supply more calories and salt than most people should consume in a day.
Chick-fil-A: Meals like the fried chicken sandwich with waffle fries quietly deliver major calorie counts, but not as high as others on this list.
Stopped eating at Wendy’s when they stopped selling hamburgers a long time ago.
Still hit Taco Bell in Kingwood when I am working up there, bit otherwise stopped eating there when they stopped taking my orders at locations near me.
Wendy’s doesn’t sell my bbq sauce anymore. I’ve already called corporate several times about it. Also they changed their fries. Not the least bit impressed with either choice.
In n out is a fresh tasting burger, and it’s cheap. The fries do suck, but at least they let you order an extra large shake, I’m looking at you chic fil a.
Gee, I haven’t seen a LJS in Houston in eons. I’ve never seen one in Katy.
I do remember there was one close to the Houston neighborhood I grew up in, but it closed a long time ago.
Edit: I just googled it. Looks like there are a handful of locations in the Greater Houston area, but they are all in either northern suburbs or pasadena. None near me!
Last one I went to was at Harrisburg and Wayside. I think it was sometime after COVID… either me or my wife wanted LJS and the other one immediately agreed. That location is closed now.
I think for a lot of us it’s nostalgia as much as the food. I have great memories of my grandpa taking me and my sister to eat at the one on Fuqua back in the early 80s. To a little kid it felt like an adventure with all the ropes and nautical decor… and pirate hats!
