That’s a top 20 list ranking we don’t want to be making.
Any idea if this graphic is current with the Dept of Education being
demolished?
Edit - best I can tell this is from 2023 data gathered.
Interesting I wouldn’t have expected A&M to be #1 but I guess I don’t know what College Station is like normally.
I have been to Grand Canyon and that campus has a fence around it and limited access, or it did when I was there. But it wasn’t in a great part of Phoenix.
Aggie tops in VAWA crimes too…

VAWA = Violence Against Women Act?
Yes. And no, never heard it before this thread.
Ugh.
TWO Alma maters on the list.

Seen other lists with tu in the top 10. Austin ain’t the isn’t the island it used to be. Any campus in a metro town is going to have issues.
Funny how Illinois and aTm, two non-urban land grant schools in rural areas made the list as well.
College campuses and academia are not immune to the greater societal ills. This shows it.
Two thoughts -
1)The data needs to be looked at on a per capita campus basis and then ranked
2) Do the numbers generally show campuses to be more safe or less than
society in general ? My gut feeling is college campuses are more safer overall.
But could be wrong about that.
that graphic has more to do with the size of the student population than campus imo. i have been to both cal and ohio state and would feel safer on those campuses than walking thru some smaller campuses
Yeah, that’s certainly part of it. These things need to be done per capita.
For the VAWA numbers , A&M appears to be in class by itself even if
per capita. Place not to send your daughters.
The Aggie culture.
Guess there are not enough sheep around to keep them satisfied.
Never was, still has a fence and is in a bad part of town. There is an obvious common denominator. D.A.'s have to punish offenders to the letter of the law.
