How can four teams that have not even played yet be in the top 25 all of a sudden? MI, OR, PSU. OSU? Really?

Because there better than anyone regardless of whether they play or not. Besides this way they can be ranked enough weeks for final NY6 playoffs.

Because they are given placeholders
it is wrong
they should not get ranked until,they play. And then they need to earn their way up the ranking.

Each will have to lose at least three times to get replaced by other P5 teams.

You have seen, teams are ranked by how people perceive their name not by how good they are.

The SEC teams were ranked before they played games too.

Besides all that matters is the CFP Poll. The AP/Coaches are glorified beauty contests.

That said I do believe OSU is a top 3 team/PSU is a top 10 team and and oregon/wisconsin are probably top 15 teams at least.

LSU was ranked #6 based on last year and then they played Miss State and dropped to #17. After losing today, I think we can say ranking a team that hasn’t played based on their past year isn’t accurate.
