manner of play. This years team is so much more aggressive on offense. I’m guessing there has been about a 35 percent increase in possessions per game as opposed to the previous several years. I keep getting PSJ feeling because of the speed this group displays.
I judge our opponent by how well they handle our defense in the first half. It seems a struggle for many teams to put up 20 in the first half. This year, Oakland was the first team we held below 20 in the first half. Hopefully, that is a sign we are putting together out typical python defense which squeezes the life out of a team.
Yes, I was shocked at how offense-oriented this team seemed to be. Ofc, they weren’t slacking on defense either, and we have to keep reminding ourselves that the opponent wasn’t exactly up to par.
We’ll get a better idea of what this team can be on offense & defense when they face Auburn in a de facto home game for them.
Wouldn’t playing at a faster pace tend to give up more points?
I mean, we’re 2nd in the country in points allowed per game so far and #1 is Syracuse who have played twice to 2 creampuff opponents. We’ve been dominant defensively as well
I guess our previous teams have spoiled me.
for our standards we are playing fast but we’re still in the bottom 10 in tempo lol

Yeah… when we run our offense it is still very deliberate…
But King Flem cuts the time down with some of those coast to coast buckets that take about 2-3 seconds…
It does seem like we are going faster on offense, but the stats don’t really bear that out.
Our pace last year (vs Quad 4 teams) 65.8
Our pace this year 65.1
Watched Purdue beat Alabama at Alabama last night.
Purdue has some serious talent, especially the bigs. The PG is all American.
I think they may be the best team right now.
Haven’t had a point guard that could run the break like Fleming since Gayln
We are also playing faster so far so that increases the amount of possessions the other team has.
You mean the team that was tied with Oakland at half-time… at home…
Alabama was not slouch last night, either. I did have to laugh when one of the announcers pronounced Alabama like Obama . . . . .
Their AA point guard did not play in the game, I do believe.
Nah… he played… I watched the clips of him getting worked in the paint.
It was Kaufman-Renn that didn’t play I’m pretty sure…
The highlight of my live game attendance is keeping track of how long it takes the opponent to reach 20 by halftime. btw, love the “new” tradition of standing until they score a point
It’s really fun! I like it, too.
No, the team that whipped ranked Alabama on the road. Bama is an excellent team and will be in the tourney and they are very well coached. Ask coach Sampson how difficult it is to win at Alabama lol…
Purdue is a really good team and has a great chance to make the final four in my opinion. And guess where the final four is this year? Yep right in their back door where we beat them last year in the regional finale…
