Now that it’s clearly bad info and old, can someone post exactly what Trilly Donovan said on his discord?

So what? You would rather us not come close to signing people? Imagine the team we would have with the people that came close to signing but we didn’t hear about? Who cares. Learn to modulate. I don’t understand why this disturbs you. If you don’t want to know, don’t read the board.

The reason we’re in the dark is because we are the biggest damn basketball program in college basketball and we don’t have a single damn recruiting insider which leads to stuff like this. I’m sure everyone here appreciates what you and a few others pass along, but the problem is that y’all shouldn’t even be in this position.

Everyone talks about attendance, but I’ve always felt that the most “small time” aspect of UH athletics is the pathetic media coverage for football and basketball. Most other schools have multiple recruiting insiders. We have one and he pops up once a month with a football recruiting update and that’s about it.

It’s not a fan base size issue either because Billy Embody single handedly runs circles the combined efforts of recruiting info we get and I doubt anyone here will claim smu has more fans than UH.

So is Wade back in the picture (assuming he ever was or left :joy:)?

What other point guards are we in on? @UHCoog2001 brought something up that was quickly discredited by Nate. Maybe that’s it?

Is like this do you drive the Ferrari to the NCAA tournament or the YUGO to the NIT. The kid pick the YUGO.

No but I bet I could credibly argue that SMU’s smaller fan base pays a lot better than our larger fan base.

If it’s about NIL and we lost to UNLV then we are in trouble.

It’s probably something along the lines of interviewing for another job to get the pay raise from your current employer.

Never mind.

I’d be nice if some of the “insiders” didn’t get butthurt everytime one of their “done deals” gets criticized.

No real insider is posting here. That’s well established.

I have no idea whether the sources or info were legit or garbage on Dedan and Taylor. Sometimes things are legit, and they fall through.

BUT…

At the same time people on this board were very confident that Dedan was coming, a person who I trust was saying we had someone, and it was not Dedan and not Taylor.

I’m sure we will know in a week or so.

so your other post wasnt hitting at shead returning … so it might really be reece beekman …hmmm… on a fan perspective i dont want him but fits into who sampson has previously recruited

Makes you wonder if Dedan was playing UNLV here for more money?

I wouldn’t read too much into people liking tweets. Nate’s been sharing good info for literally over 10 years here and other places. I’m pretty sure he used to text me stuff back when Penders was here and when we were after BCG. He knew stuff before it happened then too.

Source said “new” point guard. It could be that my person is wrong too. Maybe the Dedan camp and my guy both have good sources, and something fell through.
It happens. We will all know soon.

An insider getting something wrong every now and then is fine. Recruits change their minds all the time, that’s to be expected. Doesn’t mean the insider had bad info, just that the situation changed. But if you go talk trash to the recruit’s current team and he doesn’t end up leaving, you deserve the criticism. Not for being wrong, for being a jerk.

i dont get whhy people get upset about sourced info being wrong

as long as you arent just making it up, i love sourced info…even if it ends up incorrect

if you know a guy in the equipment room, and he heard a coach say we are targeting xxxx player… and they come tell us xxxx player is the guy…if the situation flips and we go for another guy, im not going to be upset at they gave us some insight … and try to attack them… recruiting is fluid…and also sourced info could be correct from the perspective of the source, our coaching staff might have expected a player and they told us they were coming…only for the player to have seen some crazy nil bag and change his mind

i dont care about the 100% accuracy of any sourced info, as long as its not made up… if you heard something within the program… add it to the convo…if its wrong… who cares,

its only when people start attacking other peoples sources based on their source… your guy is wrong, my guy is 100% right… only to be worng… then we will make jokes, and partially roast you… even then its all in good fun

Recruiting subs are the same low price across networks. Smu fans aren’t paying anymore than any other fan base. That’s not how it works.
