Alston is a 2027 kid.
Gotcha. Crazy to say this after the past few years with Sasser returning w/Jaraceās arrival, then Big12-year #1, then JāWan and Cryer run it back with Uzanās arrivalā¦but I have even MORE anticipation and excitement for next year with all the returnees AND new blood.
Break out player, IMO? Mercy. Even though he didnāt hit a jumper from the Alabama game on, he showed improvement defensively and was great at rebounding in his limited minutes. I believe him and McCarty are gonna show out in their opportunities next year. (See Sharpās year by year improvement as example #1 for young players in the rotation returning the next season)
Nate
This is what I am hoping
We can use both skillsets. We need a player who can create and score off the bounce. Mercy might be that guy.
A sharp shooter like McCarty could really spread the court.
He can still commit early like Mercy. Not saying he will but technically he can.
Is Alston, Rafer Alstonās kiddo?
Yes. Heās filthy good. He goes to Second Baptist.
What is happening Pollard is that European leagues are only paying so much. A Flagg getting a shoe contract and others getting $Mās is threatening the European pro leagues. The NBA is trying to create a European NBA league. It is far from starting. Teams like Real Madrid, Monaco, Olympiakos, Fenerbache wonāt be able to compete vs mega NIL donors. This is already starting in Volleyball. FIBA is trying to counter NIL but money talks.
Filthy is absolutely the correct adjective. Kid got game
This has been known for close to two months. Iām curious why DraftExpress is just posting a commitment now.
Only 15 min/gm? What is the average age in that Euro league.
Context is very important in the minute, 15 minutes isnt that impressive if youāre comparing it to the average EuroLeague player but the context is that the EuroLeague is the next best league outside of the NBA. The EuroLeague is mostly filled with former NBA players and the best Europe has to offer and at 19 years old he was a 15-minute rotation player.
This wasnāt a U21 league or U19 league. This was the prosā pros. They were highlighting 15 minutes as extremely impressive with the context of his age.
Similarly, there is a player on OK State, he almost got no minutes, but he was playing on the EuroLeague Championship team. Like 6 minutes a game on a EuroLeague Championship team, basically the next best league outside the NBA, is crazy impressive for their age.
Note that most of the pro overseas players for our own team havenāt been able to crack the EuroLeague yet.
Thatās why I asked what the average age of the league was and the caption said he is 21.
The average age of a EuroLeague player is 29 years. and He just turned 21 when he played in the EuroLeague He was 19 and 20.
You know youāre getting old when you see the kids of basketball players you used to watch
I had stopped following the Desmond Claude Transfer Portal Lottery because he stopped being attached to any team associated with us. Heās not looking at a Big 12 team,
but now that we know Tennesseeās on the schedule (they are top 3 for Claude), he is a game changer for them. Iām kind of hoping he lands with them just so that we have a better touted game.
Tennessee is literally one starter short of being extremely touted (barely top 25 now). They have four extremely notable starters (& 2 of them are more defense), and then after that thereās a jump of literally no tout.
- Either a recruit thatās ranked number 64 hasnāt played, a freshman that did less than one point per year (#97 recruit a year ago), or a mid-major transfer that only did 13 points per.
Thereās a clear difference that none of them are that notable, but if you put Desmond Claude on the team, they have like an elite starting five, and then they can gamble on the backup spots with the players I just mentioned⦠they are top 10 team if they land him
baylor and kansas target⦠him and henshall were seen as the last 2 big fish available ⦠its unclear if henshall can get eligible
