Transportation? San Antonio gets an F

What a mess! Parked at the Blossom Park and Ride. Not terrible, but drops you in downtown, a mile from the Dome. Tough walk! After the game? A massive SEA of literally thousands of people meandering should to shoulder towards downtown, no direction, no signs, no security. Why can’t they get a bus closer than mile to the Alamodome? F

The walk into and out of the Alamodome is insane. I felt like cattle and it really dampened my mood walking out, but once I got the Riverwalk, I was joyous again!

Plenty of parking in the residential neighborhood E and SE of the stadium, $40

Same here!

Some will b-tch and moan about any and everything….

I’ve been to two Super Bowls, World Series in three different cities, 3 final fours and some huge concerts….

Parking and getting close to the stadium sucked for all of them….and I know I walked more than a mile to get to each event.

Enjoy the fact that you are about to experience something phenomenal and be happy.

We walked back and forth from The Marriott Rivercenter.

Never, ever walked with 68,200 people before!

Though crowded it was a unique experience, especially hearing Coog fans shout out with glee!

I hung back and celebrated with some UH fans, maybe 30 minutes, by then, it was super easy to leave the stadium.Probably all those Duke fans leaving en masse caused the big crowd leaving.

We live here and took Uber. Easy getting there but a long wait getting home. I’ve tried the bus service before to the Alamodome for a concert and it took so long we got there 30 minutes after the concert started. I will try driving to the residential area Monday night and paying $40 to park.

I reserved parking in a garage downtown for $20 on SpotHero and had no issues getting in and out. No lines getting into the venue, no traffic jams arriving or departing. Sure there were a lot of people when walking out after the game, but what did you expect? There were 70,000 people. I’ve been to plenty of large events like this and they were clearly prepared to handle the crowds.

Buc-ee’s in Luling was 95% UH fans around 1:00 am.

See y’all tomorrow night!

If you do not mind sharing - what garage was that? Thanks,

Sure, it was 213 E Travis St. They also had a sign advertising the same rate for drive-up, no reservation needed.

My Uber ride from the stadium after the game to our hotel (la cantera) was $125 before tip :exploding_head:.

I’m all in. Dropped a bag on a flight back after driving wife home to DFW. Booked a room at one of Hilton’s near the team Marriott so I can walk and not deal with parking or being in a hurry to leave. Last step is finding a ticket which may be the cheapest part of being there Monday lol

I had my wife drop me and a couple friends at the train station and walked from there….picked us up at the same spot.

If you stayed at La Cantera you can afford it! :joy:

We were riding high that night so nothing could bring us down. I’ll be pissed about it in a day or two though lol.

Did you get any golf in today? It’s a fun course.

This year, I’ve been to every NCAA game the Coogs have played in and here are some helpful hints for those who will be traveling for the game Monday night:

1.) I-10 West bound is torn up with construction for about the last 15-20 miles before heading into town - there will be back ups - allow some extra time.

2.) Hotel prices for downtown are through the roof expensive ($700+ per night) but hotels near the airport and at the outskirts of town are more near normal.

3.) You can park near the riverwalk in the public parking garages and hotels for between $15 - $25 for event parking (at least that was what we paid Saturday night). Folks are paying a lot more than that for Uber/Lyft.

4.) Bars and restaurants on the river walk were pretty crowded before game time but not too bad - lots of these places take reservations so you can guarantee a spot by planning ahead.

5.) If you are sitting in the UH section, be prepared to stand - I would say pretty much everyone was standing for most of the game in the UH section with the exception of time outs and halftime. Contrast this with the Duke fans who sat most of the game until the end.

6.) Lots of great chants from the UH section, I especially like the repeated “Whoose house, coogs house” that we kept going for 15+ times rather than the usual 3 - first time I have heard us do this and I thought it was pretty cool.

7.) Beer is $18 for a large can - pretty steep - so better to pre-game and save some $$.

Yeah we found a Whataburger and parked there and caught an uber. Beats paying $200 for parking

Park and Ride from Crossroads was easy once we made our way to the pick up. Sad Duke fans on the early buses. I talked with UNC fans on the bus. They were rooting against Duke.
