There were a lot of Marine Corps officers in my Army Officer schools.

ALL of them insisted that they were a separate branch, and rejected any Navy affiliation.

Oh, don’t worry, they may begrudgingly acknowledge that they are administratively a part of the Department of the Navy.

But they deny any affiliation with the Navy as a practical matter and prefer to think of themselves as a separate branch.

So I guess my reasoning was similar in that if Marines don’t have an Academy, then Space Force doesn’t have to have one either.

I mean I’m not against it, though.

I’m not really seeing the need for it, but I think that this will be a military/civilian hybrid which not only trains Space Force Officers, but also civilians to work in the Space domain.

It’ll be more like the Merchant Marine Academy than other service academies, as I see it, but I could be wrong.

UH’s Air Force ROTC program has already commissioned some space force officers.

That force is so small that I can’t imagine that it can’t meet its personnel needs through Air Force ROTC and the Air Force Academy, but this admin. has a different vision, and I suspect that other admins will agree.
