But… The Orb!!! The Orb gave me hope. I placed my faith in the Orb, a mythical inanimate object that I’ve never seen, that only communicates with me through a Coogfans member I’ve never met. Long have I awaited the second coming of the Orb, only to find my faith shaken and my life void of meaning. Oh cruel and vengeful Orb! Why have you forsaken me?
This was a CHOKE, pure and simple.
Losing to Toolame is indeed the great unpardonable sin.
You know nothing about college football. Go back to overpaying for the crap Texans.
SMU appears to be doing the same.
I don’t understand how anyone saw us blowing Tulane out. I figured we’d win, but not in a blowout. They may not be very deep, but they somehow flipped the t.o.p. on it’s head and wore out our defense! As hard as it is to admit, this conference will continue to become harder to win in. The Tulanes, SMU’s of the world all have comparable talent, at least their starters.
It isn’t the defense most people are concerned about. I think most reasonable people felt that if they could get a couple of three and outs, that was improvement, and they have.
I dont need to overpay. Your wife buys the tickets and your mother buys my snacks.
I accept your surrender.
Outlook was good and for a while it was. It was never a decisive answer.
Since we have a million threads going I started one that was basically a reply to this thread without realizing this one existed.
I deleted it and will put part of it here. In Sagarin Tulane is rated 45th, which is better than every other team we play for the rest of the season besides UCF and Memphis (we’re 58th and ahead of all of those teams as well). In FPI they are 58th, which is behind those two in addition to SMU and Cincy. However, SMU is 57th and Cincy is 50th and we play those two at home. Tulane is nowhere close to an FCS team this year.
I think people are stuck in their own minds about how good teams are. Most likely they aren’t active enough to keep up with recruiting rankings, transfers and everything else in between. We played a good football team, and they deserve credit as much as we’ve pointed blame on our own team. They’ve certainly earned my respect.
Tulane is physical on both sides of the ball. That’s their identity. They have 4 DLinemen that may have future’s playing football after graduation. I was surprised with how easily our OL handled them.

This bodes well for us going forward. Losses like these always bury the positives. I kept saying we couldn’t run on them, and for majority of the game (before the schedule’s fatigue crept in), we ran on them at will! Proud of our guys. Now get them some rest and take them to the movies! Anything to get their minds off of football. Start fresh on Monday coach!
We’ve run the ball well all season. Of course King is a big part of that, but whoever is in at RB has also gashed our 3 opponent’s so far this season. That should be our identity offensively. We just need to get King to be more consistent passing the ball, and Holgorsen needs to call a better game IMO. That final drive should have had King keeping the ball in his hands every play inside the 10 until they stopped it.And I mean via designed QB power runs with the RB acting as lead blocker, or via a read option or speed option keeper.
Did we run any zone read? I thought it would have been a good play call since we were spamming the inside hand-offs all game. They were extremely aggressive and maybe it could exploited have them. But I do think CDH will decide we are a running team. Nothing wrong with that. As long as we “go win some games”!
Our OL and running backs were good. The receivers (one in particular) has enough drops already to
account for a season and should not be out there. The defense is a disaster of bad tackling except for
Ahernt (spelling). The latter problem seems to be coaching. Could they tackle in high school?.
It looked like we ran some zone read. I mean they could have just been called inside zone handoffs or QB keepers. Someone in the media would have to ask the coach.
Tulane is just a better team right now. I’m not surprised UH lost but I am surprised by how they lost. Who wouldn’t be? It was a kick in the gut but Coog fans know how that is. Regroup and get better!
