UH baseball: Carsten Sabathia’s trip to Cooperstown with his dad, CC

“During a nearly 10-minute induction speech at Clark Sports Center, CC Sabathia focused on family. It even led to a national shoutout for the University of Houston baseball program, where Carsten will be a senior first baseman next season.”

Carsten said Michael Bourn, a former star outfielder for the Cougars who went on to play 11 big league seasons, was a big reason he transferred to UH last offseason.

“He was telling me all about the staff and city and how beautiful of a place it is when I was in the portal looking for my next stop,” Carsten said. “I’m so grateful for Mike B. because he helped me realize one of the biggest blessings of my life, heading to UH and getting another opportunity to continue playing the game I love.”

He seems like a good kid. He really struggled at the plate this past season. Hopefully, for him, he can turn it around next year.

A severe labrum tear can take 6 to 9 months to rehab and then return to training
