U. of Arizona Stadium Naming Rights

Casino Del Sol Stadium is the new name for The Wildcats Stadium.

The Pascua Yaqui Tribe exists along Tucson’s Southern Border, and has 3 Casinos thereon.

Recently the City of Tucson did a land swap with The Tribe which has allowed them to build another Casino right on I-10, near Downtown. This new Casino is within 4 miles of the Football Stadium.

Obviously presents new marketing opportunities for U. of A. As in Houston an ungodly amount of traffic is on I-10 in Tucson and you can bet that plenty of folks will exit onto Grant Rd off The Interstate and take a break.

Not sure but this might be the only Naming Rights deal with a Native American Tribe in our USA.

I think there are some others around the country (or have been), but there aren’t many.

Pechanga Arena in San Diego is one, the Suns played in Talking Stick Resort Arena before it changed names, the NHL Coyotes played in the Gila River Arena before it was renamed, and I think the NHL Minnesota Wild have a deal with one of the tribes for naming rights to that arena. I

The Seminole tribe owns Hard Rock Cafe and Hotels, and thus the naming rights to Hard Rock Stadium.

Metro Houston has more than 7 times the population of Metro Tucson.

Theirs is a casino ours is a bank. The math is a bit different

The Golden Nugget Stadium has a nice ring to it

People give willingly to a casino expecting big returns, to a savings & loan, not so much . . . . .
