or until they get another sponsor i’d guess

I wonder if all that bouncing will cause metal fatigue. Any civil engineers have any thoughts on this?

Not something I would be proud of or feel comfortable about.

i wonder if it was designed to do that?

Probably about as much as the bleachers for the UT “bleachergate” game were designed to bounce, lol.

I hope this doesn’t become an episode of Worst Disasters on the History Channel.

Supposedly they reinforced the steel in places a couple of years ago, but it still bounces. Would make me uncomfortable.

Yep Mike,
Normally structural design eliminates deflection when people are involved. Excessive deflection is looked upon as failure even though nothing has broken and fallen off the stadium . It could be a real problem if allowed to go on . My 2 cents .
Go Coogs !

Gross. Nicknames should stay that way.

The bounce is initially unnerving. Lol. You get used to it as it continues throughout the game. Had a great time there despite the loss.

It’s a modular stadium? If so I see.

Those concepts came to Texas around 2001 when Pearland opened its stadium and you can build those things in less than a year and save way more cash by using less cement. Next thing you know everyone started getting them.

But then some districts wanted showcase structures so you had the Berry Center with all bells and whistles.

I love The Rig in Pearland! That’s where my boys played. It has had some great updates lately.

The old Tulane Stadium where they used to play the Sugar Bowl pre Super Dome was a steel stadium that would bounce and sway in the upper deck. I went to an LSU vs Tulane game there and as a college kid with a few adult beverages under my belt, I thought it was cool.

Then it will be known as the collapse house !
