UH 2025 Recruiting

When Fritz was applying for the job, he said he will focus on HS recruits and developing them. Developing doesn’t happen in one spring and summer training camp. For the time he had to recruit the class of 2024, he did pretty good. The class of 2025 is looking a lot better. Once he gets his program built on his players, I think we will be a really good team.

The thing about the portal there are reasons a lot of these players are available, some are going for the bag because they are being recruited by big bucks teams (See Matthew Golden) and some because they couldn’t cut it at their previous team. Yes, there are exceptions like Joe Burrow, but those guys are rare as hen’s teeth. For coming in as late as he did, Fritz has don a pretty good job.

Agreed. It’s gonna take time to develop a roster with kids that fit his system and culture. No different than when Sampson started at UH.

As for the current roster, I think the biggest weaknesses are on the OL and at QB. Fritz will address both of these positions in time. He already has two talented QB’s committed but neither will se the field anytime soon. And sadly, I don’t think our fans have the patience to wait another two years to see the results.

One more thought. I was unimpressed with the offensive scheme by the OC. Maybe it wouldn’t look so bad if our OL could block to open holes for the RB’s and better QB play, but it didn’t look too different than what we’ve seen the last five years. I was really hoping to see more involvement with the TEs and less predictable play calling.

Hard to call plays and scheme when the D-line is in your backfield at the snap of a finger.

Our problem is not coaching; it’s lack of talent on the field.

Parker Jenkins needs more than 2 carries for 17 yards (8.5 avg). We have to be more committed to the run game. Not sure why Manjack didn’t get involved. I’d say it’s because we don’t have a QB that can get it down field, but there weren’t many deep pass plays calls either.

Which comes down to coaching. He even said it in his presser that he thought they were ready.

A 3rd and 12 QB draw for 3 yards was unpredictable

Don’t be ridiculous. We have an offensive line that might not start for Tarleton State. That’s what Fritz was left with. He tried to patch it up through the portal, but he can’t make good players come here. It’s going to take a year or two to fix it, and that has nothing to do with poor coaching—unless you mean poor recruiting from the guy Fritz replaced.

This games performance was a result of “the ship has sailed.”

The talent level needs an upgrade, which is a long term project, but the question I am asking now is how do we salvage the season?. There are no easy fixes. Culture, motivation, coaching and game experience will be what improves the season.

I doubt we can salvage the season. The offensive line is as inept as it’s been in decades. I think we can only try to start building toward the future. We have an impressive class lined up (ranked 3rd in the Big 12, according to 247), and hopefully we can find the right pieces in the portal. But I would start playing young guys and looking to what we can be a year or two down the road.

So, we lost a couple of good receivers and a good defensive player, of course graduation/NFL took care of the rest. All the rest that left were players I never frankly heard of. Most, I think were not B12 caliber players that lazy brought in.
It will take time for CWF to bring in the right transfers and recruits to develop including the freshmen this year. This year is a wash. If we win 4+ and keep them close going forward as the season progresses I will be happy.

Depends what you mean by salvage. If you looking for a winning record or a bowl game, forget it. That ship never sailed in.

If, on the other hand, salvage means looking for a change in culture, team discipline, and hope for the future, yeah, it is completely salvageable.

Just quit looking for a quick fix. Coach Saban knows best; it will take several years to fix this team’s problems. Just give Fritz and staff the time they need.

Not something our older faithful want to hear lol.

I still believe in Fritz and im expecting some wins by next season.

Or the boo birds will start calling Willie is a relic like James Dickey was for basketball.

Most of us “older faithful” fully expected a turnaround that would take several years. It’s why we wanted Fritz. To get the job done, and done right, takes time.

In today’s landscape i disagree w/Nil, TP, upgrade facilities, area talent & Big 12 in our pockets.

NIL has left UH with a much bigger hill to climb unless our new AD can develop a “spectacular” new corporate donor program…and I think that’s a long shot.

And thats on the coach and school’s job to figure it out, right not your average fan… I mean let’s hope they figure it out soon because what i saw on the field was not great coaching. Team just look flat with no spirit or fight regardless of talent.

It’s up to the fans to figure out that they have to dig into their pockets. Our fan base has always slid onto the cheap side of the field except for a loyal cadre of backers. That has to change if UH is going to survive in this new era of professional football on the college level.

Constantly pinning the blame on UH for fans resistance to pay is merely an exercise in excuse making. I’m not saying UH is blameless. Far from it. But the blame is shared with the fanbase. Both have to play their parts for the school to succeed in the latest iteration of the Wild West.
