UH 25/26 Schedule Discussion

Whether they see it as a burden or not does not mean they are just going to take it on for us out of the kindness and generosity of there own hearts when there’s nothing really in it for them except more work. They don’t owe us anything. Compensating them for the favor and the extra work with a game is more than fair especially considering we’re trying to get out of hosting to get in position to have a considerable advantage that would benefit us greatly. Purdue is giving IU Indy an exhibition game this upcoming season along with playing Horizon League member, Oakland, having played another Horizon League member, Northern Kentucky, this past season. Those aren’t coincidences.

In the future, this should be negotiated by the B12 conference with partnerships with those other conferences HQ’d in Dallas to provide host institutions for venues in Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma and in turn B12 members will schedule games for members of the conferences that partner with us. There are too many good basketball schools in Texas and in the B12 to not have a sub-regional in either, TX, LA or OK each year and a Regional every few years.

But I don’t think this would be UH going to them directly and asking them. I think the NCAA would go to these schools and ask them. At that point, it has nothing to do with UH. lol Anyways, I guess this doesn’t even matter.

We’re the current host. If we’re trying to wiggle out of it then we gotta find our own replacement for us that’s willing to do it. The NCAA ain’t going to do that for us. In the article it states that the AD will start talking to other schools to be our substitute once he hears back officially from the NCAA.

No reason at all it can’t be Rice/TSU/Houston Christian….stupid Pez

I’m sure there won’t be any return games as a result of any of this other than maybe games we already had planned with Rice. But we’ll see.

Look we don’t need CKS to choke again with home court advantage within Texas.

I’m fine paying for a flight to play regionals and FFs out of state.
I have attended enough tournament losses already.

Which team did Sampson choke to in Texas? You seem like a real @ss. JFC, go root for aggy then you don’t have to even worry about getting to the S16.

I was in attendance for the 2022 E8 loss to Villanova in San Antonio where we couldn’t hit a 3 pointer and our nonexistent offense.

Then the 2024 S16 loss to Duke in Dallas but I will give CKS a pass since Shead was hurt.

Then the 2025 championship game loss to Florida where we had a 12 point lead and had trouble scoring once we got under 10 minutes in the 2nd half.

All of the tournament wins I attended were outside Texas with the exception of 2022 vs Arizona and 2025 vs Duke.

So, throughout the Sampson era, has playing out of state guaranteed success? The tournament is a lot of just “the ball bouncing their way”, with just six single elimination games. I think playing at home for a chance to go to the final four is still the more favorable option here.

You don’t have to be a fan if you don’t want to be. Nobody is holding you hostage here. You’re free to leave and root for another team that doesn’t “choke” or whatever.

When was the last time any team won the national championship in their own state?

I know Butler had a chance to win the championship when Indianapolis hosted in 2010 but they lost to Duke.

Michigan State played the national championship in Detroit in 2009 but lost to North Carolina.

It’s a good thing the championship will be in Indy then.

I support whether we win or lose lol.

I congratulate and give praise when we win and criticize when we lose.

I wasn’t born and raised in the participation trophy generation.

Saying we choke everytime we lose isn’t support and it isn’t even valid criticism. It’s @sshattery.

Is the athletic department paying you to negate any criticism on this forum lol?

You seem like you truly are a fan, but you know I gotta say you really come across as DB and maybe you oughta consider toning down your rhetoric

If this means we can extend our H&Hs with Rice, I’m all for it.

If this means we can throw out whatever FCS team we’re playing and invite TSU/HCU instead, I’m all for it.

Seriously, let’s show those schools some love.

Kansas 1988 at Kansas City (Kemper Arena).
Before that, UCLA back in 1975 (John Wooden’s final year I think?) in a championship held in San Diego.
