As a high school coach do you see those types of “baseball” schools spending more on NIL?
I’ve yet to make a game there in person but the V’s ( PAU for us geezers ) look to have some nice facilities. Might get burned at the stake here since they’re part of the UT family…but…I respect and pull for schools like UTRGV

Not really….they are the type a school that finds under recruited guys ( there are a lot of talented kids that maybe don’t play on a big name showcase team or play summer ball).
They also, snag guys that went somewhere and found themselves in a numbers game and did not get much playing time….with full scholarships now that really helps get those kind of transfers.
I think they have a pretty nice culture down there and obviously with great fan support.
So most of the players they get are likely to stay.

I started watching the inning Jackson Baker was pulled after throwing 12 pitches.
1 walk,
2 run HR
Another HR.
Coogs lose first game of the year, blow a 5-0 lead, lose 10-6.
UTRGV 2-4
UH 5-1
Coogs down today 2-1 going to bottom of 6th.
Oh no we suck again down 6-2 in the 9th.
Back down to earth we go. Pathetic.

They don’t have the pitching to make a regional.
Gave up 18 runs the last two games to UTRGV.
That is a scrappy team and I respect their program but they would finish the bottom 4th of the Big 12.
LOL…don’t be fooled. Todd is still the head coach.
Last night’s and today’s games are what you can look forward to this season, especially once Big 12 play begins.

There is a reason you don’t get too excited after 5 games….especially when it’s the same “leadership “ that has missed the regionals 7 years in a row.
