UH Board of Regents Discuss Housing Shasta VII on Campus

There’s a lot more involved. Watch this and you will see all the requirements.

its worth it

Well, by logistics, I mean that he knows all of the ‘red tape’ and certifications that are necessary. But it would be a different situation because the Cougar/cougars would be outside chillen in the sun, taking in a breeze and hearing Cougar touchdowns :sunglasses:

I assume all of you that are against caged animals are vegetarians or only eat meat that was killed in the wild. I didn’t realize how many vegetarians we had on here. Good for you. It’s a much healthier way to live. I’ve been trying to eat less meat myself; especially after I watched The Game Changers.

If it is done with 100% commitment to doing it right, this can be good. Otherwise no.

A large area for roaming, natural design (not cement).
A good set up for learning about the big cats for education. (not everyone that goes to games will go to the zoo, thus larger exposure for education)
More than one cat.

Not vegetarian at all… but I think the concern is does UH have the room to build a proper enclosure and staff it well enough to take care of the next Shasta?

If we aren’t able to provide the best for Shasta… then it would be better off housed at the Houston Zoo.

Maybe this is the beginning of our quest to get a veterinary school.

A&M would fight that tooth and nail. Look how long it took Tech to get it.

Don’t need a Vet school, just a zoology department. It’s viable in Houston and is a potential feeder program to professional programs like medical school, vet school, or law school.

It’s also a good idea for a zoology dept to work with the coastal institute at UH. That property near La Porte gets more use from other schools than UH. UH should maintain strategic partners with the Houston Zoo. It helps promote the school and the positive work of the zoo.

I’m a broken record on this subject.
