…and Arizona State was picked to finish dead last going into this season
We don’t play in the SEC or B1G so the Big 12 is winnable. We don’t have those legacy superior brands at the top of our conference.
Just find a way to win!

Strength of Schedule criteria is a load of crap. It’s what causes the arguing in the 1st place. How can you have criteria rooted in something that is opinion based? You cannot allow teams like Ole Miss and Lane Kiffin to lose to Alabama, Georgia, and Texas and turn around the next day and say they are still the 4th best team in the nation.
This isn’t a travel showcase this is a playoff. This an opportunity for the best teams from various leagues and regions in the country to come together and find the champion amongst champions.
You think the Little League World Series should say sorry we aren’t doing the NE Region or Midwest region this year we are going to send the top 3 teams from Texas because they are better and the games will be more competitive. Nobody should want this for college football.
Well, I think Strength of Schedule is a valuable metric only if it’s measured at the end of the season, and not at the beginning.
For example, a win against a ranked team in Week 2 should not hold any weight if that team is no longer ranked at the end of the season.
Strength of schedule should only be considered as a tie breaker. Team 1 went 10-2 and Team 2 went 10-2 but Team 1 many would argue played tougher opponents so they get the nod.
What we cannot have is what we are getting where Ole Miss goes 9-3 next year but think they deserve a spot over a 10-2 Houston Cougars team.
Mike Leach spoke on this years ago. If wins and losses on the field aren’t going to decide it then why doesn’t the committee just tell us at the beginning of the year who the best teams are
What odds…?
That’s a fair system I can get behind
I agree…Our goal is to win the Big 12. Win it, and we are in the playoff…next year we play SFA, Rice and Oregon State. That is a schedule that should get us off to a good start and ready for conference play.
Even odds. Lol
If you’re looking for + odds talk to Vegas.
I would never take us at even… even if we had the last 10 years that tOSU or Bama have had…
You ALWAYS get +odds on championship bets…
I wonder what ASU to win the B12 paid…
Realignment created all of this sos bs. Ole Miss complains? Get into another conference and…win it. I am sick and tired of this espn MAN MADE perception.
Did anybody force uta and okie to bolt to the sec?
Did anybody force the PAC12 dismantling?
Did anybody force smu, Cal, USC, ucla, washington, oregon and others to bolt to greener pastures?
Yes, yes, yes and yes espn did.
So far espn has refused to have a 16 teams cfp. We are at 12 but they are still excluding most DIV 1 FBS conferences. That should have never happened. More than likely we are going toward a p2 system. Have you ever heard of product saturation?

Dayum!
Yah crazy things happen in sports all the time. I will be curious to see what kind of odds Vegas gives us.
I’m hoping ASU pulls off something crazy this week!
Nobody forced UT/OU or UCLA/USC to jump. They jumped for the money.
PAC12 could’ve survived if they weren’t greedy and jumped on a media deal before the Big 12 did.
Now what ESPN will likely try to do is dismantle the ACC to avoid shilling out $30+ Million to schools like Syracuse and Wake Forest
Quit acting excluding the G5 is new. It has always been done, and will continue to be…This isnt BB. The playoff is a more level way, with more teams, to decide who wins the NC…Big 12 will always be a part of it, and so will ACC, as long as their schools will just stick together. and strength of schedule needs to be a bigger factor. Ole Miss in SEC and BYU in Big 12 were both better than Indiana and SMU and deserved to get in over them. I promise you one thing. THOSE 2 schools wouldnt have rolled over and played dead in first round like SMU and Indy did. The playoff is pretty much for the power conferences and i have NO problem with that, either…
Hey Monte, tone it down a bit will you? Nobody knows what the future entails. A playoff with 16 teams is IMO…again Monte my opinion satisfies the entire DIV 1 FBS programs. No one will or can be left out this way. On a given day a, a team has a chance vs so called favorites. No the cfp should not only be for the power conferences otherwise you need declassify all g5 teams.
The cfp knows it and that is why they have thrown a bone to the g5’s. The cfp knew by not doing so litigations would be coming.
What would you write if we get excluded from another realignment?
Back in the late 70’s or early 80’s OU, Nebraska, and Colorado ended up ranked 1, 2, and 3 in the nation. I can’t remember which was which, but #1 was undefeated, #2 only lost to #1, and #3 only lost to numbers 1 and 2. Yes, a team can have 2 or 3 losses and still be the 3rd or 4th best team in the country if the only teams they lost to were the 2 or 3 teams ranked above them.
The T-Sips have a great defense. Will have to have a Herculean effort for the Devils to pull it off. Maybe put them in TT unis.
Why are we still pretending anything matters, or that this is in any way objective? The committee will check the vibes in early December to see how many P2 teams they can shoehorn into the playoff. If there aren’t enough 2-loss P2 teams to go around, we might be considered for the 12-seed. The best way to get that consideration is to have no more than one regular season loss, and beefing up our schedule doesn’t help with that. But it’s also just as likely that we fail the vibe check and the committee decides to put a mid-pack SEC team in over us in any case.
