UH Mural in Downtown Los Angeles?

we do…because it is significantly hurting our University in every single area.

We are headed in the right direction…but at glacial speed.

We finally received increased funding but we are lacking almost all of the other elements of 98% of our P5 contemporaries. Because of that we a re a desirable FIRST CHOICE UNIVERSITY to a very small % of quality College atmosphere seeking students.

If you are OK with mediocrity…than we will just agree to disagree

Dude your inferiority complex is in infuriating. Stop comparing yourself to others, you’ll feel better about yourself and your degree. There is nothing wrong with a UH degree, stop believing all the nonsense rivals throw at us.

I went to UH because of their outstanding NM scholarship. Sad to hear it isn’t the same any longer.

Just pitch UH as the jackpot to study in. You’re in Houston, and according to the out of state kids, UH is thought of highly outside of Houston to older alums compared to closer in. If you’re an underdog type, you’re going to THRIVE and YOU WILL get hired almost IMMEDIATELY. Boom. You have a job. Doesn’t matter if it’s 80k or 100k, you have a job. Others are stuck looking around for a few months while you’re already building industry stock.

TAMU kids think well of UH since both are really starting to compete against each other and it comes down to do you want to be in Downtown Houston an hour away from home, or College Station an hour away from home.

Don’t look at attending UH as a first-year, but how the outcome will be four to six years from now. This place is going to be rocking by the time I defend.

This doesn’t mean I’ve looked elsewhere for graduate programs, and I sure as heck want out of this bum arse state when I’m done. I just don’t want to be on the ‘outside looking in’ for tech anymore. But employers are thinking very highly of UH, more than anyone thinks right now. They’re very bullish on it because of the TYPE of person it produces. The ‘social acceptance status’ of a University has become overrated to them BECAUSE it makes their potential hire feel ENTITLED due to their University, but not from the work they put in to get through it. Not everyone can go to those ‘socially acceptable’ ones, let alone getting in.

Case why med schools, law schools, etc don’t care about your undergrad.

I think UH would attract a lot of interest out-of-state if it touted its Entrepreneur Program at the Business School. What college age kid doesn’t dream of being his/her own boss? Profile successful graduates in different industries. Suggest that “You could be UH’s next successful entrepreneur.”
